If we keep that pick, whoever it is, they gonna have to get in line for playing time. Wembanyama Sengun Smith Eason Garuba Martin Green Porter Jr Christopher Washington I'd hate to be whoever is drafted there. Gonna be on the Vipers until proven better than those 10 dudes above.
We should be consolidating the young players to 5 to 6 and trade the rest for veteran pieces. That is what needs to happen
We may see a bit of consolidation next season. Garuba and Christopher haven't really cemented themselves in the rotation yet. Eason is a rookie but has easily surpassed them. If this draft pick is mid first round it can be an instant contributor.
There are a few promising young guys we could take here assuming we don't package this pick in a trade. Either way, I absolutely do not want to move up in this draft at all.
It’s the same value as getting a late FRP and packaging it with the Bucks pick to move up, which is what the plan would have been had we ended up with three firsts anyway. Stone got the value he was seeking. It was a win.
Exactly. There's no need to keep guys at the end of the bench after 2 seasons. There will need to be consolidation for sure, and Eason this year has shown how a rookie can easily lap up a 2nd year player if they are a better fit for what this team needs. I can see ALOT of contending teams with no first round picks in this draft trading a 2nd round pick for guys like Josh Christopher, Garuba, etc. to try their hand at putting them in a better position to succeed with their teams. These are exactly the type of players Morey would have been trading for. For the Rockets, it gives them a kick the can asset for the future even though they are essentially trading back in the draft from 1st round talent to future 2nd. However it's just the way it goes with 1st round picks that don't work out. Alot of teams are really needing some young talent to fill out their roster and it's the right thing to do regardless to let guys like Josh Christopher try to earn minutes on another team. Point being we have PLENTY of room on our roster to take on another first round pick. Especially one in the 15 to 20 range. There will be good players who can play on this team for sure.
What's mind blowing to me is we will have had 7 1st Rnd Picks in the past 2 years and an additional 2 this year and so far, only 1 (Sengun) seems to be making a real name in the league with the stats to support his performance and give hope for a strong future in the NBA. #2 - Jalen Green #3 - Jabari Smith Jr. #16 - Alperen Sengun #17 - Tari Eason #23 - Usman Garuba #24 - Josh Christopher #29 - TyTy Washington Jr. Looking at another Top 5 15 -23 range pick God I hope 1 of those guys is a splash.
it's not really 1 but that's the reality of the nba draft. you aren't getting home runs on every single pick and there's a very good chance you just get a spot minutes type of player. It takes a lot of luck to get that one player that truly is able to impact the game to the level of someone you can build around and win consistently
Probably unpopular opinion here, but I think we may need to move 2 of our better 5 young guys (Green Sengun Smith KPjr Eason) to bring back vets. There is the slim chance we can make a move and bring back a pick if we take on a moderate contract
Given Silas' coaching history I think we really need another coach and staff (experienced) to come in and give the entire existing squad half a year to review them and determine what they are really working with. These guys may all be studs just rotting in a rotten system. Who knows.
If we get Wemby or Scoot I would trade the Nets their picks back for Bridges/Johnson. Might do it regardless. This team doesn't need any more young players.
I would want better players than that. Can we get stars and not role player/3andD specialists. Bridges isn’t a star. He’s reached his ceiling . Think like Cleveland they traded their draft Capitol for an actual star(Mitchell). Bridges can’t create his own shot or help run-facilitating an offense. I’d rather sign Middleton(who’s much older) than trade away our future for Bridges. Role players are useless in this system without a true point guard or floor general.
31 year old middleton who is no longer a star that can't stay healthy anymore. No thanks. easy pass for someone that's apparently reached his ceiling, this says different
At least every new draft pick is a chance to find a superstar or a Maxey. I never dislike taking swings on players in the lotto or mid first round. The Kwahi’ are out there. But if you keep drafting you have to keep making room for development and that means some playing time. Unfortunately with guys like Christopher, and especially having invested so much in KPJ and Jalen, there just isn’t a place for him on this team, and even more unfair was benching him the first half of the year, coming off a good rookie year. He’s not really going to get a fair shot here and he can’t shoot. I think he’s the kind of player you have to move on from. Same with Garuba. We have so much invested in Jabari and Tari, where are Garuba’s minutes coming from? He’s a developmental player who’s a couple years away. If we can get 2nd rounders for each of those guys, or a good vet on a good contract, or package them with something valuable for a significant player/asset, we should. I’m pretty sure we’d rather invest in the 15th pick in this draft over JC or Garuba at this point. Keep consolidating and keep churning!
Maybe... But most of those guys aren't really setting the world on fire. If the newly drafted player shows an immediate impact, he could easily get rotation minutes. Tari Eason has been in the rotation from day one despite players with more years of experience ahead of him. Players will have to earn their minutes...as they should.
I like this kid Brandon Miller on Alabama maybe we can use this pick and a future one to trade up and get him
I cannot believe they just went from our tank commander, John Wall, to the real tank commander; Russell Westbrook. This is getting good.
