I guess that make sense. I was hoping that if the clippers bumped up to top 4 if missing the playoffs (that pick goes to thunder) and then the rockets get the thunder pick and bucks goes to clippers. That sux
If that's the case we need to start cheering for OKC to lose too. Man, this is starting to get intense. I didn't know there was a battle with OKC over who got the pick. As long as they both suck hard it won't matter, it won't the the Bucks pick.
The one thing that could set the Clippers into total freefall would be for either George or Kawhi to get injured and Westbrook has to start playing more minutes. The wheels would literally fall off.
So…our pick can be anywhere between 1-5 if we end up with the worst record. And our other pick will be 7-18 best case scenario… I think. Man! Another 7-10 draft pick would be real nice!
Should the Rockets keep the Clips pick, I hope it's either some dude with real length or someone who can fight for PG duties.
I expected the Clippers to move up a few spots, and so far they have not. I think the pick is still only like #17 or so.
I feel like we don’t talk enough about just how much the Clippers gave up to land Paul George. 5 FRPs, 2 swaps, AND Shai? If it doesn’t work out for the Clippers, the trade should be discussion for worst trade of all time.
Part of that trade is that people will also bring up the caveat that kawhi leanord came to the team as well as a free agent with PG.
Absolutely. It’s the same reason no one talks about how much the Lakers gave up for Davis. Lonzo, Ingram, Hart, the #4 pick, and two other FRPs? Just a massive haul. The difference being the Lakers won a championship because of the trade, and the Clippers haven’t done much of anything.
There is a LOT going on now. Riding every result to hope BKN ends up in the lotto Doing the same for the Clips (and then hoping their pick isn't top 6)
Maybe But the lottery is for the top 4 picks only, after that it falls to ranking. The Clippers are 5 wins ahead of OKC, so it would be highly unlikely for OKC to finish ahead of them OKC is currently pick 7 We're hoping LAX loses in the play-in (which at best puts them pick 11). In short: not much chance of OKC screwing this yo for us
If you consider Kawhi/PG as a package deal, the Clippers/OKC trade isn't nearly as bad as the Brooklyn/Celtics trade of KG and Paul Pierce. At least PG and Kawhi are relatively young. Brooklyn ended up underperforming expectations and KG and Pierce were already at the tail end of their careers. The picks Brooklyn traded over ended up becoming Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics cornerstone pieces that have already been to the finals together.
No doubt, I agree the odds are slim. Just didn't even realize OKC had any swap rights with the Bucks pick and now Clippers pick to begin with. I missed that entirely lol
