You don't think the Twins end their 18 game postseason game losing streak and 9 postseason series losing streak?
I strongly suspect 6-4 will still get it done. Especially if one or 2 of those 6 come against the mariners. the way this team is playing right now they will finish 2-8. there’s still (barely) time to turn it around.
Maybe Astros will get lucky and Seattle will go like 6-1 against the Rangers in those last few series.
Best case scenario this weekend is probably Texas winning 2 of 3 and the Astros sweeping. Hopefully they split the first two while Astros take the first two.
Yeah- if you want to win the division you want texas to take 2/3 this weekend. If you want to make the playoffs you want Seattle to sweep Texas
If Oakland somehow pulls a miracle today I’d say that I’m indifferent who wins the series this weekend, but would prefer a 2-1 series while the Astros sweep.
Yeah. I am assuming an M’s win in which case you definitely want texas taking 2/3 if your goal is to win the division.
I would think the opposite - if you want to win the division, you want the M's to hand the Rangers some losses because the Astros can hand the Mariners losses themselves. But the Astros can't stop the Rangers from winning games the rest of the way so someone else has to beat them.
Astros 2-1 vs Royals 2-1 @Mariners Mariners 2-1 @Rangers 1-2 vs Astros Rangers 1-2 vs Mariners 2-1 @Angels Astros 89-70 Mariners 87-71 Rangers 87-71 Magic vs Mariners 3 vs Rangers 2 Astros 3 @Arizona Rangers 4 @Seattle.
If they all tie with the same record, who gets left out? So I was using https://playoffpredictors.com/Baseb...wYUcSaWeRZVdTbXfQ408y62+x519z73-wMFDhI0WPEEgA which is bit wonky. I could only find 1 way for Houston, Texas, and Seattle to all tie, where in Seattle wins the division and Texas gets left out. If Houston, Texas, Seattle, and Toronto all tie, Seattle still wins the division but then Toronto gets left out.
Very real scenario. Sea beats Tex 4-3 and Tex beats the Halos 2-1. If Houston can go 2-1 vs Mariners then both Tex and Seattle have 5-5 records. Houston would only need to go 3-3 vs KC and Ariz which is doable.
This team needs that bye round. However, if they don’t sweep KC I don’t think that’s going to happen. At the moment, I can’t see this team taking 2/3 in seattle.
