I still want nothing to do with Hosmer.- even if it was $5 million he provides league average production and would block a guy likezTaylor Jones or J J. Matijevic who could possibly do that for minimum salary. That would be $4+ million more for the Tucker extension.

I did a quick Google and didn't see any proposed Josh James for Hosmer and two great prospect trades.
Yes, you are 100% correct in that they would attach prospects to those two guys to get rid of their contracts. There is no denying that has been reported. But that doesn't mean you would get TWO of them for a guy who is 29 in AAA with an ERA over 7.00, who has a career ERA in the majors of over 4.50 and is sporting a 1.29 K/BB rate right now. If that would be all it took, than the Padres would have had 29 different offers for both of those guys...yet, they both still play for the Padres. Hmmm...makes you wonder, if it's so easy as dangling out a Josh James-type, why hasn't it been done? I certainly would take that trade, but the Padres would laugh the other GM right off the phone.

Look The Padres are going to be in Financial trouble very soon. They have players that are going to be looking to move away from so they can resign there guys that they don't wanna let go. I believe they are already over the Tax threshold. They are willing to move Big Prospects to dump away those big Contracts. Myers Hosmer Snell etc So far the 1st name that was leaked was Luis Campusano. I would ask for Harrell and Campusano in a Snell Trade and be Ok with taking on that Said Contract.
They only thing I am commenting on is your hypothetical of James for Hosmer and 2 GREAT prospects. That all never, ever even be discussed.
