Nook, I appreciate where you're coming from, and it's not that I'm totally against trading away Urquidy, but I'm opposed to trading him now. Of course we knew Odo wouldn't be here next yr. This surplus we've had this yr can VERY easily be reduced significantly next season. I understand they're wanting to upgrade CF, but given the unknowns of JV + LMJ for next yr in my humble opinion it makes sense to hold on to Urquidy at least until next yrs trade deadline. Yes Brown is a possibility. Bielak? No thank you. Also if JV leaves go look at the available FA pitchers that are available for next yr and tell me who you want to throw a bunch of that excess cash we have? Plus since Crane has been here what FA pitchers have they signed in FA for a large amount of $? They traded for JV, Cole and Greinke. Not saying that they wouldn't be willing to do this but there's not a track record of them doing it. Anyway, no right or wrong here, but just preferences. As we all know good pitching is hard to find, and we control Urquidy for three more yrs. He can come out of the pen, is playoff tested, he's cheap, and we control him for three more yrs. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
By trading for Verlander, Cole and Greinke, they didn't have a need to pay big money for a free agent starter.
Well at least now we know why we had no shot at Josh Bell, it wasn't for lack of trying, I'm okay with that.
I'm not sure how I feel about our offense come playoff time. I'm hoping we catch fire at just the time right time come October, but right now I'm conflicted.
The greatest offense since the Murderers Row Yankees lost in humiliating fashion in the World Series, and set a record for most runners left on base in a 7 game series. I don’t want the offense to be good, I want them to be lucky.
****in’ A right. We will never have a better team than 2019. Never. But we could still win some World Serieses.
LOL The Cubs sat on Robertson to the very last minute, and they get a 23 year old in high A ball. He has a lot of swing and miss stuff.... this can't be what they hoped to get.
Hopefully a sign prices are falling like a Walmart commercial. Chafin, Happ and/or G. Soto are all that’s left that I’d get excited for. And only at yesterday-type prices.
Didn’t we send out our own 23 year old in A+ ball with swing-and-miss stuff to get Mancini? Looks like Tampa got more out of the trade than Baltimore.
So the deadline has passed, right? EDIT: Nevermind, looks like 5pm central. For some reason last night during ESPN's Sox-Stros broadcast I thought the scroll kept saying 3pm
I am... I sure feel nervous. Vazquez helps if it is his turn to play. But the bottom of the lineup concerns me if we have runners on and need a big hit.
