Odo: a prospect in the org 8-15 range of an average farm; this would be a solid move for Houston Maton: a prospect in the org 12-25 range; do not want Houston to do that as I have hope for him Chas: a fringe top MLB 100 prospect (75-150 range) Urquidy: a solid MLB top 100 prospect (30-80 range) plus a throw in or two Garcia: 2 solid top MLB 100 prospects
They went from serious interest to no interest because of his vaccination status to serious interest. I wonder if Judge or any Yankee asked if he would get vaccinated if he was traded to NY. Is that tampering or asking about a vaccination status not a MLB issue?? Or all he had to do is say hypothetically if the Royals were a playoff team, would you get vaccinated if facing Toronto was a possibility? Or maybe tampering happens more often than usual and this would be nothing new. Also regarding another catcher. Yan Gomes perhaps? Even if they kept Lee, what if he or Maldonado got hurt. Who's the 3rd catcher right now? Are they after bullpen help? What about a Gomes/Robertson package? Getting Robertson would be 1 less option for the Yankees as well. They might need to replace both King and Chapman.
Re: Soto, initially I was all on board. It was intoxicating to consider. Such a baller win-now move. What a freaking lineup. He is on his way to a HOF career, health permitting, and could be the closest thing to Bonds we see. At the end of the day, I’m not sure I can justify the cost it would take. You build long sustaining championship organizations by finding/developing these rare players (which is what we are lucky enough to have done with Yordan, Tucker, Altuve, and the list obviously goes on). I would love to see us try to extended and keep the core in place rather than putting all or most of our eggs in the Soto acquisition cost. It’s like buying a house, and the closing costs associated with acquiring and/or keeping Soto just don’t make sense. Hopefully he goes to a team we don’t have to worry about immediately, say Giants or Padres. Low key I wonder if the Orioles are a sleeper with their recent resurgence and payroll flexibility. I don’t see Nats trading him in the division, but I also wonder if he’s approaching a situation where he only gets traded if he signs an extension. I could see NYM and a few other teams giving him the albatross contract he’s seeking, surely WAS clearly wants to avoid that to the extent that it’s in the division.
Im surprised the Orioles haven’t gone after Trout. The Angels need the blow it up. I can see why you would keep Ohtani as you will never get “two all stars” worth or minor league talent in one trade, but they need to abandon ship.
I'm thinking Josh Bell for JJ Matejevic and some low Prospect lottery pick But what I'm interested in is another trade. Im wondering If the Orioles would be interested in a trade Trey Mancini, Jorge Lopez and Heston Kjerstad for Chas McCormick, Jose Urquidy and Forrest Whitley
Using this: Castillo for Urquidy, Perez/JJ and any 2 from the tier 3 pool. Bell for Siri, Perez/JJ and 1 other tier 3. Trade Odorizzi for prospects. Leaves you a rotation of JV, Framber, Castillo, Garcia, Javier. And still have McCullers. Not sure how you put together the lineup, but it’s gonna mash.
I doubt the Nats end up moving Soto, especially given that you want him on the team if ownership plans to sell.
For Houston that would probably mean one of Javier/Garcia plus Urquidy, Brown, Whitley, and two of Leon/Barber/Diaz/Lee. Wouldn’t be a terrible deal but I don’t think Houston should do that.
Would pass would try to get Bell Castillo and Mancini Lopez Kjerstad Combos. Would go better in the long run
Mattress Mac throwing money out on Bets like crazy for the Astros to win the WS. So what would we need to do to insure this victory?
It's the equivalent of paying an insurance premium which is what he used to do before the high end insurance company's stopped insuring these promotions.

If Houston wants to replace Castro (so they can keep Lee in AAA as the 3rd C) but doesn’t wanna pay the price for a premium C, here are the guys that might be available for peanuts: Yan Gomes Stephen Vogt Robinson Chirinos Kurt Suzuki Dustin Garneau Erik Haase Garneau and Chirinos have been with Houston before so have at least some familiarity with their pitchers. None of those guys should cost more than cash considerations or a lotto prospect.
Also he’s a showman. Local yokel buys insurance and nobody cares. Crazy sports fan bets 2 million on Astros to win it all and it gets attention and publicity
Somewhat under the radar potential bat targets if Houston doesn't like the price for Bell, Cron, Drury, Cooper, Walker, or Mancini: Ian Happ Tyler Naquin Anthony Santander Brian Anderson Hunter Dozier Charlie Blackmon Jesus Aguilar Happ, Anderson, and Dozier all seem to be decent fits because they offer defensive versatility (all should be fine at LF or 1B) and come with another year of control. Dozier might be the type of player Houston thinks they can level up.
I’d do the top 3 for prospects, I’d do the Castillo for Garcia plus a tier 2 guy and a couple tier 3 guys if necessary. Then I’d trade Urquidy for a top 50 guy and two interesting complex league guys. JV/Castillo/Framber/LMJ postseason. next year Javier and Brown to be the best 6. That’s plenty of pitching with what we have in the org. And that would add a net of 2 top 5 organization guys and another top 15 guy. All While holding on to Brown, Lee, Diaz, Leon and Whitley, plus adding in 3 more guys comparable to that. Would make JV a must re-sign.
