Front Office Game Plan for SP Rotation (If I was in charge) - I know the thought is scary)

    2022-2023 off season
Sign JV 3 year with Club Option (through 2026)
Extend Valdez 6 years (through age 34-2028)(2 FA)
    2023-2024 Off season
Sign Javier 6 years (Through age 32 -2029)(4 FA)
    2024-2025 off season
Get them early and stagger FA years to keep AAV down.

Just a random thought. Looking at the MLB.com playoff bracket.

Have you ever seen a bracket where the second seeds are at the top and the first seeds are at the bottom?

~I'm sure it has nothing to do with NYC teams being second seeds.~

Yeah, must be an MLB thing. On MLB The Show it has it layed out the exact same way.

They can eliminate the need to reseed by not gifting the 3rd division winner the 3 seed. Especially now with going to a more balanced schedule of reducing division games and expanding inter league games. Being the winner of the 3rd best division guarantees a playoff spot but seeding 3-6 is determined by record. Also gives one more playoff positioning race to watch out for.

The trend is more playoff teams. Why not just eliminate Divisions and Leagues altogether and have them ALL in the playoffs?

Add two expansion franchises and have a 32 Team playoff, all based on records and tie breakers.

    32 First Elimination>16 Second Elimination>8 QuarterFinals>4 SemiFinals>2 Finals>CHAMPION

Almost like the PUBA. Pick Up Basketball Association.

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...er-Jose-Urquidy-moves-to-bullpen-17480577.php

Urquidy’s move to the bullpen signals that the Astros do not foresee him being part of their playoff rotation for the American League Division Series, though he is not out of consideration entirely to make the roster, according to manager Dusty Baker. “Try to get him some work there (in the bullpen) and then we’ll see how he performs, see how his arm is, see how everything is and try to make a determination on who we got to keep,” Baker said Saturday. “We got some major decisions.”

Does this mean Javier will be 4th starter, or has Garcia played himself into a starter?

I'd say 3/4 are Javier and LMJ in some order.

Everyone needs to remember that you can reset the roster after every series.

You could make the argument that Javier is our best SP right now. Of course JV will get game 1. With rest, there is no reason he wouldn’t be SP1. From there, I would like to see how the analytics break down matchups with Tor and Sea/TB. Historically, LMJ has been way better at home. Framber has clearly been SP2 all year and matchups could dictate Lefty? Javier is the hottest arm on the staff.

I have to assume Framber gets Game 2 based on his performance this year. This also gives us the ability to use Javier in game 1 or 2 (more likely) if needed. Based on performance, Javier should be SP3.

Javier has pitched himself into the playoff starting rotation. He might be our best pitcher at this moment in time. Not necessarily over the course of the season, but right now. He is in top form.

Too many disparate numbers for my poor old brain to digest. Can you sum up?

Legend is at the top, bolded and underlined for left to right.

Rows are sorted by SP with latest start at bottom and grouped.

Any summary will depend on what you find significant. I like Runs (2nd from the right) and (IP 4th from the right.)

Framber is at 196 innings when his career high was 134. He's gassed. I would skip his next meaningless start and try to preserve his arm for the postseason.

I'd do the same with Urquidy, who's at 166 ip when his previous high was 107. They're on fumes.

With Framber tentatively due to start 10/5, Philadelphia may not be playing for anything which relieves Dusty from integrity of the game criticism. But Milwaukee is very close for the last Playoff berth. It could easily boil down to the last day.

I don't have the Starting Temperature Data, but I do wonder if Framber's grip is affected by cooler temperatures.
