I don't think it's as simple as that. He still has a lot of the guys there from the previous seasons so there's continuity. He has guys w/ leadership who know what to expect in the program. Beard is at UT with a whole new batch of guys and culture he has to set going forward. Especially when all of them are use to doing things in other ways. Lets see how Mark Adams does when he starts from scratch after all those guys leave in the next year or so.
Naw 7+ new transfers for Texas Tech. Adams had 1 or 2 guys from Beard's years and 1 of them was injured for half the season. That's why TTU wasn't ranked before the season. Beard and Adams were essentially working from scratch, but Beard had a better batch of players.
TJ, Santo Silva, McCullar, Nadonly are all still there. All upperclassman who 3 were starters under Beard. Those matter. especially with culture and continuity being ranked or not is meaningless. Those numbers are always wrong year in and year out. It's based on a ton of sheer hype rather than actual results Nobody from TT went with Beard. He inherited a backcourt thats been there, their entire career who are used to a number of different ways. Mix in a number of transfers from some other pretty significant programs, it's not just going to click in year 1. He at least has them as one of the top teams in the nation and are competing in the tourney.
when Beard left a bunch of players transferred out. The people that were left weren't playing except for Santos, McCullars and Shannon despite them being upper classman. A lot of excuses for Beard.
No McCullar was definitely playing and a starter. He averaged 30 mins and started 19/20 games last year. And he's a rotational player on this team now playing just as much. Nadonly was a bench piece as well. Multiple core guys like that matter in the college programs when you need culture and continuity. Otherwise you 're left w/o an actual identity that can change quite frequently Only two players left. Peavy and Edwards left from his core team a year ago
What an interesting team Davidson's put together. Basically half the roster are international students.
Baylor got screwed being a #1 seed since this team is missing a number of guys. They were bound to go down against NC
The post referred to yesterday. Not today. Texas teams went 4-0 yesterday. This Baylor team which isn’t a #1 is outmatched vs NC
Refs did everything they could to let Baylor back in the game. No manek and no love. And swallow some whistles lol
