Artest was a good offensive player. It looked awkward sometimes but he got it done. I think it's fair to say that he could be effective from all 3 levels and and he was certainly very strong and skilled. I don't know if I would go as far as defining him as a 3 level scorer. I mean he is but sometimes his defender dictated how he attacked or how efficiently he attacked. He could attack from the perimter or from 3 but he was not quite consistent enough to dictate that whenever he wanted.
I have been watching Artest since he was at St John's he has always been a favorite of mine, I'm probably twice your age whippersnapper.
Great post I have been saying the exact same thing. if he turns into R Lewis with defense I will be very happy.
It definitely was the visuals. At the very least, I personally think he had better handles than Kenny Smith for example. That was never his game. Artest was never a creative or visually appealing dribbler or scorer for that matter. He was a bully ball scorer and the way he used his handles reflected that. If he wasn't shooting, he was bull rushing his way to the rim and it was up to the defender if they wanted to try and stop him.
Yeah, I was surprised with that but I was not really checking for defense when I watched the NBA back then.
thats a fair assessment, Id agree with that. I think Jabari can reach that point too even if his shot is streaky.

I still like him, but I think he really needs to develop a handle to reach his potential, guys will put a smaller quicker player on him and he will struggle getting open looks. DD
You still like him before he has even played a single one singular first sole solitary game in the nba. Good job sir, no jumping to conclusions for you! lol
DD doesn't realize that the game is played on the X-Y-Z axis, not just the X-Y axis. Trae Young might be able to get in front of Jabari, but he's certainly not going to take away an open shot from him.
