Go back and look. I was replying your sneering at comparing Jabari to Dirk. You thought it was a joke to think Jabari could be as good as Dirk. I was pointing out to you that Dirk wasn't much when he first started. You are thinking about a 19 year-old vs the peak Dirk. But if you compare Jabari at 19 and Dirk at 20, you know the comparison is not as ridiculous as you make it to be. Simply put: I was calling you out for your blind reaction to the Dirk comp.
Already seeing workout videos of Paolo and Cole Anthony. WHERE ARE YOU JABARI??? Fans getting thirsty
I wanted Chet, but talked myself into Paolo because I thought Smith was locked in at #1. I'm so happy we ended up with Jabari. Dude has got some old school, no nonsense feel to his game that this young team can use.
None of this makes sense, I am not comparing a 19-year-old to peak Dirk I am comparing their overall play style, and it's nothing alike. What I was sneering at is using one game and trying to extrapolate that their games were alike, Dirk had a much more advanced dribble package and their post games were different as well Smith relies on the jump shot much more than Dirk did. Dirk was more Mchale, while Smith is more Aldridge.
I don't see it. They have a similar build, but Bosh had a really well defined post game and was taking a lot of his shots close to the basket. Jabari has almost no post game, but creates his shots on the perimeter (by shooting over defenders). Really, the best comparison video I have seen so far has been KD. I am not saying he is as good as KD - and KD definetly also had a post and a dribble drive game - but overall the way they both created jump shots and also the way they drive to the basket was really similar. Again, KD was clearly better, but at least their perimeter game was pretty similar.
Didn't they do this with Thriller last year when they ridiculed anyone for comparing Green to any rookie who struggled and went on to be a stud. Yet wanted to be taken seriously when they compared Mobley to a HOF right of the bat. My thing is rookies are going to struggle and eventually find their place.
I’m like u except I wasn’t able to talk myself into Paolo I love his no nonsense approach too, and he also kinda talks a little trash and gets himself hype when out on the court which I really like too
Yep. The cashing in of receipts from all the absolute statements from this draft at the end of next year will be marvelous. So many crystal balls here! LOL
No two players are exactly the same. Comps are just approximation trying to envision what a young may become. But you don't know what you are talking about. Watch some Mchale tapes. He and Dirk are nothing alike. Mchale was pretty much exclusively low post back to the basket player. Dirk was a face up jump shooter.
I know what comps are and how they work. Dirk was a jump shooter and low post player It's clear you don't have a clue about Dirks's actual game. Mchale could face up as well he just didn't do it as much as Dirk. I don't have to watch McHale's tape I watched him live plenty. Unlike you who are probably basing everything on youtube highlights.
, Reposted for emphasis... pure truth. I'd add the dude just turned 19 last month, we only have a snapshot in time of what he can become.
