If you not part of the 7% it's probably a wise decision not to make any final conclusions of him as a player. You know posters will be bumping this thread. Everyone was picking him 3rd, calling a player a bust not even 25% into his rookie season is silly. Some of the same ones calling him bust were calling Green a bust, Al-P a bust, whoever. Adjusting to the NBA is not easy. Some players do it better, some do not. Some rookies, believe it or not, will have their best years now and never be as good as they were their first 3 years and some players you wouldn't believe they played so terribly their rookie year. Not every player is on the same trajectory. For Bari, he's already a positive defender and is like 2nd or 3rd rookie rebounding. The Rockets did not draft Bari to be good this year, they drafted him to be great 5 years from now.
Today at least let me laugh at this.... he can be a superstar and I still laugh about his inept shooting, his me before we.
That is fair. It's a difference in saying he sucks right now vs "He's a bust, get rid of him." Right now his offense is the main thing sucking, he has good games defensively here and there but his offense is just not there.
That's just who he is, and it was readily apparent at Auburn. Returns diminish very quickly the longer Jabari has the ball in his hands or thinks about doing anything other than shooting.
There is a strange aerodynamic vibe to it when a pogo stick 7 footer with a small brontosaurus head is attempting a good number of threes and failing so miserably. I would rather watch shorter players bricking them, it would look normal to me.
He played better once a few things started going his way. That is a positive sign. He started to get some confidence.
I didn't watch him at all at Auburn but **** the scouts and draft guru assholes for not noticing this. This guy looks like a 23rd pick not a 3rd pick
Yep he needs to just be more aggressive especially going to the rim. This time last year everyone was whining about Green not getting any foul calls. Look at him tonight. As always patience. As far as his shooting it will likely be about 30% from 3 for the year. He’s a 19 year old rookie big and that’s how it goes.
He tried to get involved tonight in the second half, he just continued to not execute well. As strange as it sounds, I liked seeing it. I get that he kind of looks like a bad pick right now, but if he can somehow manage to stay confident, I do think he will ultimately become a good player. At the moment, he’s just not there yet.
Once he get his shooting back, everyone will love him. The guy is playing great defense, such as blocking shots, covering 1 thru 5 and rebounding.
I think most everyone in media was caught up in his highlights, similar to the highlights from this game you’re seeing a great shooting form with a quick release and confidence. That makes you believe he has the potential to be the next KD and with his height no one can block him. But then when you find out he hit just 4 of 14 shots for 28% you realize he isn’t that elite sharpshooter. Nor does he have any go-to moves. But he has been good on defense and that will make up for some of the misses.
People really stuck on his offense when he's basically one of the best shot blocking rookies and not far off for rebounds. If his shot does start falling he instantly becomes at the very least a super role player. If he then starts adding more to his bag, slashing ability, that turn around middy he tries and hits sometimes, we're talking about a player with a lot of potential.
His shooting is a 34 game sample size in college where it’s not an actual NBA 3 pt line. If you include summer league, preseason and now the season, he’s quickly approaching that mark so which sample would be more valid? For the record he shot 42% from the field overall in college.
