Democracy is for Boomers. Millennials and Gen Z just aren't putting in work. As a gerry millennial, I vote in person on election day.
There's other sources saying that there is record youth vote. That might be due though to that youth vote is always very low relative to older voters.
there is record youth vote in key places like Georgia and Pennsylvania in places like TX, it’s down…at least so far
haven't heard much about this incident Shooting at NC-14 GOP candidate Pat Harrigan family home, none injured https://www.carolinajournal.com/shooting-at-nc-14-gop-candidate-pat-harrigans-home-family-uninjured/
These are pretty damn funny and not that far from the texts that I've been seeing especially from my "good friend" James Carville.
Zero evidence the "democracy is in danger if you don't choose me" argument has any political purchase. But if you believe midterms are about base turnout and this is the best/only way (along with abortion) to scare the base into turning out, I can sort of see it.
I'm not "saying" much of anything. You follow these political things with more interest than I do, but I'd say this: * I'm surprised by the model results from 538. I would naively rate GOP chances higher. * 538 has a decent track record, but they have under-estimated GOP turnout before. * Still, I recall their last-minute, sharply rising odds of a split between popular vote and the electoral college in POTUS race. I was warning all my delusional lib pals, but whatever. What models really struggle to predict is political violence against candidates, their families, or government officials, plus which candidates will refuse election results. In that sense, my ultimate prediction for the US is that votes will probably matter less and less if a high % of people don't all agree on the importance of a joint reality.
When you have candidates literally running on that they won't certify an election if the other party wins yes that is democracy in danger.
Yes that is part of issue that democracy is in trouble. There are many who now think it is acceptable to try to turn an election over by non-legal means up to violence.
Because they are already familiar with the process and it's safeguards and have confidence that it'll be run in a professional and nonpartisan fashion because it was built that way?
