That bump in the middle looks like federal covid stimulus, and that real wages have fallen back in line with the trend of 2018-2020. Is that not right?

Elon Musk is the last person to figure out Elon Musk is a republican?

Congress is going red super likely, too much headwind for the GOP...but this is a lot more promising for Dems. Fetterman is already off to a strong lead and hasn't started his ground game yet because of health issues.

I wonder what the narrative will be on the 'red wave' if the Dems hold the senate...

Also, I wonder if Jan 6 will affect some of these candidates that have been strong behind the big lie like Mastriano. Time will tell surely but the hearings are not done and I imagine its final result might scare some moderate voters from voting for people still whining about Trump's L.

Right. Texas will most likely get more red, not because of this election, but due to how the districts were gerrymandered this go-round.

If Flores wins in November, then it's really something for Dems to worry about.

That really would be an indication of a major sea-change in American party politics. If that happens, the Democrats will either need to radically re-imagine their viability as a party and transform themselves into something hugely different than what they are now, or else they really might be on the verge of disintegrating as a national political party.

It could happen, but it has not happened yet.

It will happen, and America will be a one party regime under a new GOP where they win every election over the evil Dems. God will be back in the class room, the courts, the workplace and the kitchen table! YEEEE HAW!

The current Democrat party is a politically dysfunctional, hysterically delusional, train wreck of a party. It cannot continue on the current course it is on. And it will not. Watch and see.

That being said, there will be another party to replace it, if the Democrat party fails. For certain.

Can't be a wave if they don't take the Senate, which is a real possibility. Dems could even possibly get to 51 or 52. I do think they'll take the House but it won't be so overwhelming or veto proof. The people that are still whining about the 2020 election aren't going to change their mind at this point. They're fully in the cult of the stupid and there's no way out.

People were saying the same of the Republican party 4 years ago when they were facing midterm losses with a terrible president. But the mechanics of our government will buoy the losing side. Both parties will be fine for the foreseeable future.

If the Democrats develop the capacity for self evaluation, humility, self improvement and change, then they very well might. However, based on the current attitudes of the party and the people in it, those are some very big ifs.

South Carolina GOP Rep. Tom Rice loses primary after his vote to impeach Trump

Republican Rep. Tom Rice lost his solidly conservative South Carolina House seat Tuesday after nearly a decade in Congress, which included his vote to impeach former President Donald Trump over the Jan. 6 riots.

Fry on Tuesday secured more than 50% of the primary vote, avoiding a runoff with Rice on June 28.

Rice's race has received national attention, in part because of Trump's rally in the district. But Rice himself invited out-of-state Republicans to stump with him, such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, amplifying his Trump record.

One error in the article above. There were no riots on January 6. Some trespassing and some vandalism, yes. But riots, definitely not.

Show us the way brother! I'm very interested to learn self-evaluation, humility, self improvement, and change from you. These are traits you have truly exhibited with your cartoons over the years.

If he only had humility to see how foolish it is to question dear leader Trump, he'd have been able to change his vote to avoid the wrath of Lord Donald.

I'm annoyed at the implication in the media reporting that because the district is largely hispanic that it's some sort of gimme for Democrats. Texan hispanics may lean Democrat, but they're relatively conservative in their attitudes in my experience. And rural/small town hispanics are more conservative than urban hispanics. GWB saw that 20 years ago and courted that electorate. I'm not surprised to see a south Texas district go red.

100+ years means South Texas was voting conservative before the Southern Strategy flipped the parties.

South Texas has long been home to blue dog type conservative democrats. Fil Vela was one of those. It's not surprising that the more radical the democratic party becomes, the less those sorts of folks will feel their interests align with the party.
