I agree about the identifying part but thats not just Cubans it happens to some degree with all Hispanics of Spanish descent, I think that's the reason Trump has made so many inroads. And actually Spanish is considered white and then you have the subsets that are mixed with indians and africans.

A lot of Hispanics are “white”. But I suspect a lot of Hispanics white and non-White are fairly conservative in the traditional sense. Many Black Americans are similarly conservative but they are unwelcome in the GOP beyond tokenism. I think the parties umbrellas continue to shift and at some point @basso will be a Democrat and @pgabriel will be a Republican.

Kentucky and Montana both appear to be set to reject locking in abortion restrictions. Dems should look at the national battlefield in 2024 and target purple state to try to get abortion initiatives on them and boost turnout. Nevada has a ranked choice initiative on their ballot - it's leading but close with a lot of vote outstanding. Nebraska voted raise minimum wage to $15.
Many of the GOPers running in this election were not "generic" though. They were crazy. That's probably true - but it doesn't mean it wasn't the 2nd or 3rd most important issue or a non-negotiable issue. Nor does it mean that voters trusted Republicans on whatever issue that ranked #1. Abortion is often not the #1 issue for Republican voters, but it is a disqualifying issue. Even if they support a Democrat on other issues, they often won't vote for them due to abortion. We may be seeing some of that in reverse.
