This is the way to do it though. Once you have a player you want to keep, you ALWAYS pay them as soon as the opportunity arises. Otherwise you end up like Dallas or the Bengals grossly overpaying for your players.
Oh, Im not against it, it just blew the other deals out the water aav wise and I agree. I still dont want to see WAJ an CJs. That doesnt mean i dont want it to happen.
Yeah, it's a ton of money. And their's is probably gonna be worse...Lol. But when somebody you're definitely better than, resets the markey (Jaycee Horn), that's a HUGE negotiating advantage you.
All I’ve seen today from the pundits is Jmar and Tee talks. Some Stingley but mostly those Bengals WR. Even when Stings sets the bar for CB salary it’s low key.
To be fair, those deals were announced yesterday so the plans to write/talk about those signings were already made when Sting signed.
I guess we will have to wait 2 years and see what the other DB's are banking at that point. He might end up being a heck of a deal at that point. This also alleviates the stress that would have come two years from now. They can move on and plan the next big contract. Fortunately we drafted pretty well, but the flipside is good to great players get paid commiserate to their level of play and that means bank.
Yes for the creamiest of the crop. You don’t wanna be like the Cowboys and wait till the last minute and pay out the wazoo when you could have gotten a lower price early. Ie CeeDee, Michah, Dak etc…. What you don’t want to do is overpay mediocre bums like Tytus Howard early when you could have gotten him cheaper later on. I hope Caserio learned his lesson on extending non pro bowl/all pro bums early.
