Eh, he was drafted last year. I don't think it's unreasonable for a small school player to start their first full season in low A. The Astros have a lot of interesting OF prospects, he got buried on the depth chart until he hit his way up the ladder. I think 4th OF type is probably the most likely outcome, but a Chas McCormick type outcome seems possible.

I've just put 2+2 together, and after Valdez and now this...your bbs nom de plume makes a whole lot of sense.

You should armwrestle @Snake Diggit for the title of "who loves them boys more"

Not that it's wrong, or not that it's right.

I’m just glad it seems to have stayed away from his eye.

I don’t know if they will call Lee up or not but I can tell you they were very disappointed with his last call up.

He is having a very good start to August after showing some moderate improvement each month, although his k rate has stayed high throughout. Also, every time I see a highlight of his I see the swing and athleticism of a future 3B/LF who will definitely have to make huge strides to close the hole in his zone in order to be a major leaguer. But Houston obviously sees more because they keep running him out at SS and CF.

    Lance getting lit up tonight.
Anyone thinking he will slot back in as a #2 or #3 has more faith in him than I do.
I have not seen anything in his 4 starts that even merits him getting called back up.
Think his ERA is sitting around 7

Corey Julks hit his 22nd home run of the year for Sugar Land: a three-run home run to cap off a six-run 7th inning

Adrian Chaidez in relief vs. Springfield: 4 IP, H, BB, 5 K

After getting whacked in his first two AA appearances, Chaidez has settled in nicely. He'll probably be back in Corpus to start 2023, but he's also put himself in position to be in Sugar Land at some point next year as well.

People involved in the Astros front office were not impressed with what they saw from Lee, they did not believe that he was close to being able to handle a pitching staff and they were not as impressed with him behind the plate as they expected.

That doesn’t mean everyone felt that way but one person said he was disappointing and questioned his long term fit. The other person just mentioned it in passing.

Lance is extreme when it comes to feel and grip. It takes him awhile to get that down.

He and Odorizzi seemed to have good chemistry.

My general thought is, as long as the Astros have Verlander, they’re going to want 2 veteran catchers. It’s a shame Castro is washed and Maldonado is getting long in the tooth. I hope Vazquez fits in and they can keep him.
