Fayetteville won 3-2 despite only having three hits. Jose Alvarez was involved in both scoring plays for the Woodpeckers... he scored on a wild pitch in the 7th and had the decisive hit, a two-run single in the 8th.
Astros need to clear some room in their OF of the upper levels of their farm. All 5 OF in Asheville could be justified in moving up to Corpus. Dirden is way past due for a promotion to AAA.
Probably a nothing-burger (though it is overreact to every move season), but Grae Kessinger was pulled in the middle of the 8th inning today. He has heated up in the last 3 or so weeks, and was mentioned as a trade target by a few on Twitter.
Specifically, he was hitting around 310 the last 8 or so games, I think (per a different tweet). I was skeptical of him when we drafted him, and I don't see him as amounting to much, but he has a terrible BABIP and good BB/K numbers, implying bad luck, so maybe somebody else wants him as a throw in. Again, probably nothing, but that is my overanalysis.
Hey man, love everything you’re doing keeping us informed on minor leagues.. I wanted to ask, how do you watch the games? Are they streamed somewhere? I wouldn’t mind tuning in to some if I could find them. I also just found out our company has a box at corpus so that could be fun.
I often forget Alimber Santa exists. He was probably the most interesting of the international arms ticketed for Fayetteville before the season. Too bad he's been injured.
It’s nice to see a list that properly values Valdez, seems like they’re high on Diaz too. Pretty weird to see Barber so low and Melendez and Santos behind Chase and Spencer.
One legitimate reason to downgrade Barber is that he hasn’t played consistently. Not sure if he’s got a nagging injury or what, but there’s reason to question his ability to stay on the field.
Daniele has an ops >1000 since Jun 1. Unfortunately it’s a product of luck and power, as his strikeout rate has still been very high. Gordon has been excellent since being promoted. Underrated prospect who will be a sleeper going into next season. Probably would have been a 3rd rounder had he not gotten hurt in college.
He's still working his way back from TJS, and I know this is only Low-A Ball, but I have been high on him. An 8th round draft pick last year, but I believe he would've gone in the 5th (at WORST) had he not underwent TJS. Even if he doesn't stick as a starter, he could turn into a nice lefty reliever.
