Oh well. If Jalen can continue playing better and have a couple of stand out games to end the season everyone will forget what happened here.
You don't think casual NBA fans would know the rookie 2nd overall pick? The contest is also a big platform to boost Jalen up to the casual NBA fans like Shaq mentioned, increase his stardom. Last year's we knew was going to be bad because of covid and they gave the win to A. Simmons. This contest was worse.
No, I don't. And it's not his fault or anything. Unless you show out and remain consistent throughout the year, people will forget about you and/or where you were picked in your draft. People go nuts for Luka and Trae, but do they remember that Ayton was the #1 overall pick that year? Ditto James Wiseman...dude was the #2 overall pick last year but Anthony Edwards and Lamelo Ball are way more memorable than him. I'm not saying no one knows who Jalen Green is. I'm just saying, he's not enough of a name to get people to tune in, purely for the dunk contest.
Yea I got you I always thought the NBA markets the early drafted players especially top 2 in their rookie year. But I suppose those are the guys that's come into the league with "star potential" Those teams immediately get increased televised games. Adam Morrison, Thabeet, Blake Griffin, Durant/Oden... Ok yea I guess those are all players who built hype throughout the year and in the tourney. What you said makes sense I just haven't watched enough nationally televised nba recently.
Mobley would at least make his dunks. He's got BIG hands. Toppin has to be the worst dunk champion in the history of NBA. Absolute TRASH.
Their future collectively looks soo bright. Basement dwelling chumps. Although that fat guy looks like a riot at a bbq once the free kegs arrive.
Usually it's those who busts really hard, or becomes instantly really good gets the recognition. Jalen is kinda past the Thabeet/Morrison bust territory, but hes nowhere near an instant star like Luka or Griffin. He's now in the forgettable mediocre category that slips everyone's mind. Anyway in this draft only Cade had the hype coming out. It was always Fade for Cade the whole year, nobody was fading for Green or Mobley for that matter. If Jalen doesn't improve next year, he will be quickly forgotten because there will be a whole rookie class
NBA is the most ghetto sports league. Done watching all star weekend. Hoping all players tomorrow get injured. (No Rockets playing, We are good)
There's really nothing ghetto about it, just really poor decision-making by the NBA in entertainment selection and a super corny Cole Anthony who grew up in Manhatten putting on some boots.
Damn, what a shitshow. So glad I only caught the YouTube highlights and didn't waste my night on this crap.
