so they need to go 11-17 over the last 28 games to hit 24 wins. SMH I really hoped they'd do better and they're going to cost me the $100 I bet at the casino and the cost of my NBA league pass. Ughhh.

I'm too damn old for this kind of rebuild with seeing much in the way of progress.

Horrible thread - had no idea Silas was such a lousy coach.

It looks like the rockets won’t even be on pace to hit 20 wins

    You know what...

I'm starting to figure out why so many people are angry, 70% of this board thought this team would be a lot better than they are. I thought I was being optimistic too, I said at best they'd be the 5th worst team in the NBA and to me this was with everything going right. Green getting more consistent (Has pretty much been the same player he was last year), KPJ maturing as a PG (nope) and Bari being an at least mediocre shooter (his shooting has been terrible) I figured if those things went well, Rockets might be good enough to ruin their chance at the #1 pick.

I always thought this team was on the absolute bottom tier so I've been cruising through this season and enjoying the rest of the NBA games instead of getting emotionally involved in this team.

Unless Wemby is a generational star (and we get him) that basically comes in dominating and/or the Rockets swing an all-star or make some big splash this team is at least 2 seasons away from even competing for a play-in spot.

    2 seasons!?

I think most of us are looking at 4-5 seasons until we can compete.

Edit: just read the play-in spot comment again. I guess that’s possible but not much of a benchmark IMO if we have no chance of getting deep.

Well, yeah. I don't think anyone thought we'd be competing, but after two top 3 drafts, you'd figure we'd see SOME improvement. It's almost like there's been a regression. The Rockets are in a good position to be the first team in history to have the worst record three years in a row. It's embarrassing.

Oh yeah to actually compete 4-5 seasons MAYBE. Without any big moves of course. By compete I mean a 1-4 seed.

But play-ins? If everything goes reasonably well then 2 seasons about.

I don't know we had some people talking play-in...

I mean I agree. I'm not disappointed in the record but I am disappointed in how sloppy they look, how bad they look. I'm a believer of what Popovic said, winning and losing doesn't matter, but how you play does. The habits you build do matter and this team has about every bad habit a team can have and none of the good ones.

Mannnn I thought there was no way we’d be under 25 wins after drafting a stud in Jabari Smith and our young guys improving.

I want to go to Early-October me and slap him.

And yet, next year I will once again be optimistic

It feels like a lifetime ago that we were on a very positive trajectory... But it was just two months ago that we were 9-18, having won 6 of our last 10, with wins against the Suns (twice), Sixers, Bucks, Mavs, and Thunder.

    ... Man wtf happened.

Jackson's "bad win" episode of Locked on Rockets after beating the Suns by one. All downhill from there.

I figured we'd be awful but thought we'd squeak over the hurdle due to so many other teams tanking for Victor. But that just hasn't happened. Last year there were nine teams that played .415 ball or worse, right now this year there are only four.

Yes i thought they were mid to high 20s win team.

30 at most if everything broke right. This was a very modest improvement based on organic growth.

This is not an extremely high bar, the WC is weaker than the East finally. There's a lot of . 500 teams and load management.

Orlando, a basketcase franchise, is going to easily clear it.

Instead of mild improvement - the Rockets actually managed to get substantially worse in nearly every possible way.

Maybe 2 players improved (Sengun, Martin), everyone else either flatlined at best (Green, KPJ) or came in below expectations (Smith) - in the greatest year for offense in modern NBA history - and so collectively this team can't even make up for the loss of... Christian Wood?

It's justifiable to be disappointed here.

I know, it is almost like the culture around the team, and the quality of player development, coaching and the organization being on the same page matters.

    Who knew?

Kwame Brown certainly blamed everyone else for his failure as an NBA player, it was MJ's fault, it was "team culture"....not him. I guess we're going that route with Green and Smith already.

I know it's not fun, but the majority of the blame has to be on the players themselves for not living up to the hype. They were billed as top tier talent.....if that was true we wouldn't need to make excuses for them.

Is there blame to go around? Sure, but the team looking like they flat out missed on 2 top 3 picks is a bigger issue than anything else.
