Trade #20 for John Collins (the Hawks need to shed salary and I bet Collins rebounds with Sengun at center)
    Extend KJM
    Pick Amen at 4.

    Amen / Green / Smith / Collins / Sengun
    KPJ / Tate / KJM / Eason / Garuba

    Another piece of logic...

Blazers are looking for win now players for #3. So a good pairing would be with a team that is much older and not seriously contending.

Wr have younger role players to offer in a 3 way deal..

    Possible trade partners:
    Clippers
    Mavericks
    Nets
    Raptors
    Jazz
    Pelicans
    Timberwolves
    Bulls

    All top 15 oldest teams.

    Then filter for highest payrolls:
    Clippers
    Mavericks
    Pelicans
    Nets
    Timberwolves
    Bulls

Out of those teams, I think Dallas is most desperate.

Here are possible higher salaried players ignoring backcourt Blazers' strongest part of team):
    Kawhi Leonard
    Paul George
    Marcus Morris
    Davis Bertans
    Brandon Ingram
    Zion Williamson
    Mikal Bridges
    Rudy Gobert
    Karl Anthony Towns
    Demar Derozan

Filter for age as an older team like the Pelicans won't want to deal a younger player... filter non star level guys...

    Leonard
    George
    Gobert
    Derozan

These are probably most attainable player for Portland using #3 and contract filler.

Houston's role is to absorb the bad contracts in exchange for #3.

I wouldn't mind something like this:

    To Portland:
    Demar Derozan
    Kenyon Martin Jr
    #20

    To Houston:
    Patrick Williams
    Nassir Little
    Jusuf Nurkic
    #3

    To Chicago:
    Kevin Porter Jr
    Jea'Sean Tate
    Shaedon Sharpe
    #4

Not sure on exact math for cap rules on that... spotrac says it works...

We then cover SF, PG, and backup center.

Those also only eats up 10 million of our 60 million cap space...

    So figure...

    Harden / Scoot
    Green / Christopher
    Williams / Eason
    Smith / Garuba
    Sengun / Nurkic

Scoot out develops Green then move Harden off the ball and bring Green off the bench...

I like that one if Chicago is interested in rebuilding (it doesn't sound like they are but I guess you never know). It feels like a good value for all the teams involved. The only obvious issue I see is that it leaves Portland with a hole at center. Nurkic is a fair value on his contract IMO so they're kind of giving something up there without an obvious fix for the problem. Maybe they could handle that with the MLE, but I'm not sure what their thinking would be.

That's why I sent 20 their way... get an athletic big who can rebound and run pick and roll... trade or draft the guy...

Josh Hart was one of the FA’s I wanted most. It’s gonna be a lean list of available FA’s.

I don't think Collins moves the needle enough.... he's not the 2nd best player on a really good team at this point...

After these moves, we'd have a team of two gifted playmakers in Harden and Sengun + rangy athletes that can push the pace and are switchable on D. Def not a championship contender, but a competitive one for sure.

As for Collins in particular, I mostly see him as a buy low option for us - a 16/8 guy that had a down year from three but previously showed real shooting chops (36%+ from three in the previous three seasons). Deadline rumor was that he was available for Crowder and nominal picks, which feels in the ballpark of my offer of Tate + 20. With the new cap coming soon, Collins' $25 MM/year deal is not too onerous. Getting him for Tate, a limited shooter that may not be as impactful on a team with a bevy of capable playmakers, and a mid round pick, feels like a good consolidation move.

Was Iko trying to outdo himself by making each trade worse the Rockets than the last? Geez.

I guess in a vacuum but there are better players out there. I don't know how untouchable they are but Patrick Williams, OG Anunoby, and Mikal Bridges are better players than Collins. Probably some others too.

Better than nothing but he's not high on my list.

Mock trades for Bridges and Anunoby have teams giving up 3-4 1sts. A mid round 1st for Collins is much more palatable, and I believe he'd recoup value after excelling as a PnR lob / pop threat with Harden

    Hmmm... I counter:

    Usman Garuba
    Jalen Green

    For

    Klay Thompson
    Andrew Wiggins
    3 #1s, top 3 protected

I'll hold back the pick swap requests... don't want to insult them....

The #4 and younger players is more value than 3 or 4 future picks that are unlikely to be top 10.

The cost with Collins too is the salary cap commitment. Some targets don't have as much long term money committed. That can be good or bad.
