If everything we are hearing doesn't turn out to be a smokescreen, Stone needs to be fired. There is way too much leaking if this isn't all by design. The Idea that we would pay FVV $40M+ for two years when we could get Monte Morris for 2 SRP is insane. I am thinking (hoping) we will all be blown away by what actually happens. If we end up with FVV and Dillon Brooks for our entire salary cap space, this offseason was a fiasco.
That part. Methinks TF is playing a role (possibly Pat). TF wants a splash to sell tickets and to get the casual fan hyped up. I think he was talked out of Beard, but he wants a splash...or a sploosh rather. Morris is the smart play by almost every metric & value system / process.
But to the average fan, FVV and Brooks are not a splash. Nationwide media would ridicule us for that. That is what influences fans. Being shrewd and stealing players from cap-strapped teams gets you national praise, and thusly, fan support.
Monte Morris? KPJ is way better than Monte Morris. If we pickup FVV and Dillion Brooks we should win up to 30 games. Now, getting Brook Lopez this jump us to 40 wins. FVV is a culture changer in the lock room and the court. 2 years ago, FVV was a all star last year and was shooting around 40%(FG%). He is a in your face leader who will hold our young guys accountable. Despite his size he is a very good defender, and WAS tied with Jimmy Butler with 1.8 STEALS, that is 2nd in the NBA. If we do not get FVV, his job might be in danger because we need a leader on this team. Tomorrow is a big day for this franchise we have a chance to lift our floor of our talent on this team. Getting FVV, Kuzma or Dillion Brooks and Brook Lopez we are a playoff team. Sengun and Jalen will be in their 3rd year and we will see a jump in their production…..anxious for tomorrow

Think about it like this: he (or the marketing dept) can sell the casual fan on Htown signing the #1 FA PG on the market (esp. because Beard opted in). Brooks? I gotta believe that's a red herring. Big money 2 year contracts could be good expiring trade chips for next year's free agency. I could see having FVV bringing us some more wins and teaching these young guys a lot and then we flip that huge contract in a sign and trade the next year to fill another hole and Amen takes over. Maybe that's the plan??? I'd be super happy with FVV, Cam Johnson and a random defensive big. Cam Johnson could be a long term piece with the shooting from 3 we really need and defense at the SF spot.
Statistically speaking, you might be able to make an argument that KPJ is better, but not way better. And Morris is better in the areas we need from our PG, assists, turnovers and 3pt%. The upgrade at PG from KPJ to Morris may seem minimal, but with Morris at PG, the upgrade to KPJ from JC, Tate and Nix is phenomenal. And we could get that at a fraction of the cost of FVV. that would allow us to make much bigger impacts elsewhere. Then you could make a run at an Andrew Wiggins trade or signing Cam Johnson, along with that rim protecting center. Throwing $60m+ at FVV and Dillon Brooks is lazy GMing.
the most Bucks can offer Lopez is $54mil. (just under $50mil. after Wisconsin’s 7.65%. income tax). I think Rockets' offer will be somewhere $60-66mil. over 3 years., that's $10-16mil. more in pocket, Brook will look very hard at it
