Anyone but Stanek in the 8th inn look good to me. Add Kimbrel and we won’t see Stanek from 7th-9th in a high-leverage situation.

Graveman has similar numbers to Kimbrel at a fraction of the price. If I had to guess, the next trade will be for another reliever that’s similar to what Pressley was when we traded for him.

I like Graveman, my opinion is more about being high on Toro and not thinking really any rental reliever would be worth 4.5 years of Toro.

Javier is still the 2nd best arm in the pen. Teams on pace to win 97+ games aren't floundering. I'm still hoping for Kimbrel, Rogers (or comparable) or a starter that will push Graveman to the 4th (or 5th best reliever when Urquidy is back).

Lots of folks have been overrating toro for a while. He is a future decent utility man. Fair value for a rental. Toro would be just a nice throw in for Kembrell. We will be competing with teams with a lot of ammo for kembrel

The loss of Toro certainly stings. To be fair, he didn’t help his trade value over the past 2 seasons because he didn’t produce as much as you’d like during the opportunities he received- such as breggy or Correa being down.

That being said, the Mariners could be feeling pretty good about this trade in a couple years.

This one certainly helps the Astros now though

The Astros also got Smith off the books.

Yes, it could be similar experience with Teoscar Hernandez. I will say Graveman is a better pitcher than Liriano was when they traded Hernandez for him.

I get it, but Toro was never going to have a bigger opportunity on this roster than he had with Diaz and Bregman going down. Does Toro even make the roster next year with Diaz and Bregman still on the team?

Probably the same limbo he’s in now — if he had broken out, there was an outside shot they would have thought about re-allocating money and moving Bergman to shortstop.

Instead, assuming we offer arbitration to Diaz (chance they could decline), he’s a AAAA player waiting for an injury (like this year) for the next couple of years.

I like Toro, but he’s probably not on the playoff roster this year even.
