I said it the day after, could be a transformational draft similar to what the warriors had.

i mean… Jokic did just win the MVP. It’s a pretty high comp as is.

I was pleasantly surprised with Alpis defense in summer league. And we are talking complete upside potential. I just don’t bunk he’ll ever have he athleticism needed to be as good as Jokic offensively AND a plus plus plus defensively.

but maybe it’s a push at that point!

I think a lot of it depends on how his body transforms, he only just turned 19. Right now I think he's probably too small to defend the 5, like, I can't see him trying to defend Embiid at his current size. Obviously we're talking best case scenario with his upside here but, he could continue to grow to 7 feet, while also getting stronger and more athletic.

I'm also curious to see him against legit NBA competition. I was wondering if he can keep up with the NBA pace, and now that Silas looks like he wants to put a track team out there, I don't know how long until he builds that stamina. But that can come.

Another thing would be is he quick enough to defend NBA starters like he did against Summer League competition. If he can't get into position or react fast enough, I doubt he'll be getting NBA calls on defense. Let's see if he's prone to foul trouble as a result.

If PJ and Unca Jeff can defend 5's then so can Sengun.

Eric Gordon has taken Sengun under his wing, cool.

And Sengun's new translator sounds like death.

defense success is 75% positioning+awareness+team scheme. individual defensive skill is not that important.
let’s remember: Brook Lopez is NBA Champion, while Rudy Gobert was clowned in the second round by the Kawhi-less Clippers
In high leverage situation a well-coached, high IQ team will lock-in, no matter what. Brooklyn was 23rd in Def Rtg during the reg season, had top defense in the playoffs…

I'd take Chuck Hayes defending Centers over 98% of the current NBA, and PJ Tucker defending Power Forwards over 98% of the NBA.

A bit embarrassed that so many Rocket fans complain and bicker about 1-2-3 inches like they are drafting players purely based on NBA 2K physical specs.
