For what it’s worth, I really like Shane Buechele. I think the Case Keenum comparison is a good one and Shane could probably be in the league for 10 years as a backup if nothing else.
I’m thinking career backup, spot starter, but yeah, I really like the guy. I liked him at Texas too. I think he’s a guy who needs to be in the right situation though. I don’t think you can plug and play him just anywhere, but in the right spot he could play for a long time. I’m not sure he runs well enough to compensate for his size, but I love how he throws the ball. Plus he’s pretty smart, which I think might help him overcome a lot of his physical limitations.
Next year around this time we will have something to look forward too unless a deal for watson happens which I doubt with the allegations
Then again, if you are a team like the Texans, you can pick a guy like Watson up using those character traits and see how quickly that all changes once they have money and power.
We are going to have to watch our division rivals stock up in this draft, as we wait and wait for our turn to even get our first pick. Jacksonville will have taken 5 picks (3 in the 1st round), before we even get our first, and as we wait for our 2nd pick Jacksonville will have taken 6 and Tennessee 4. Jacksonville gets the first pick in the first 4 rounds, and will have 8 picks before we even get to our 3rd. This isn't going to be fun to watch.
Yep, you gotta be careful who you pay big money too. People who grow up without money tend to go crazy when they get money. In Watson's case he thought money equaled power and that he could do whatever he desired to do with no repercussions.
Agreed, but the 2022 draft should be a reversal in fortunes. The Texans should have a high first rd pick and a couple of more high picks in the Watson trade, provided he doesn't end up in jail.
It still won't come close to the haul Jacksonville will be pulling in this year, especially with the whole Watson situation. He's screwed us over royally. All I can hope for is that we get luckier next time we put our hopes in a QB, but we won't have a ton of other top picks to use to build up our other gaping holes on this team like Jacksonville is going to do this year.
If they get a top 3 pick next year ad hot on a franchise QB then use the picks they get from a Watson trade to add talent to the team. Plus they will be in a much better cap situation than if they had kept Watson. Just gotta suck next year which will probably happen and hit on the franchise QB in 2022. Strong is my guy.
