Looks to be fun, good stories and good players. Here's the Preliminary Top25 (last number is their ranking before the last Tourney) I'm very biased, but the UT@Gonzaga game, November 13, is fun I hope. 1 Gonzaga (55) 0-0 1,562 1 2 UCLA (8) 0-0 1,459 NR 3 Kansas 0-0 1,427 12 4 Villanova 0-0 1,332 18 5 Texas 0-0 1,315 9 6 Michigan 0-0 1,255 4 7 Purdue 0-0 1,213 20 8 Baylor 0-0 992 3 9 Duke 0-0 963 NR 10 Kentucky 0-0 894 NR 11 Illinois 0-0 861 2 12 Memphis 0-0 831 NR 13 Oregon 0-0 775 NR 14 Alabama 0-0 713 5 15 Houston 0-0 694 6 16 Arkansas 0-0 673 10 17 Ohio State 0-0 581 7 18 Tennessee 0-0 563 NR 19 North Carolina 0-0 547 NR 20 Florida State 0-0 381 14 21 Maryland 0-0 294 NR 22 Auburn 0-0 267 NR 23 St. Bonaventure 0-0 238 NR 24 UConn 0-0 161 NR 25 Virginia 0-0 125 15
My evening is now planned: USA/Mexico leads right into this game. Oh yeah. Horns have so many new players they're obviously still a work in progress. But they are athletic, deep, can shoot, and will get after it on defense. Only thing they really lack is size in the paint. Great early season game to benchmark where both teams are at (Gonzaga has some new guys too, you may have heard of 1 of them), but the outcome really doesn't matter in the long run. Hope it's a fun game.
For draft nerds, UCLA has 3 potential first round prospects: Peyton Watson, Jaime Jacquez Jr, and Johnny Juzang. Jacquez is one of my favorite returning players. Really versatile, great feel for the game and does a bit of everything. Villanova has Collin Gillespie and Justin Moore. I think both are fringe prospects rn, but a lot can change over the season. Should be a good game.
watching the UT/Zaga game saturday I couldn't help but notice how undersized UT now is. For such a highly touted team that was pretty surprising to me. Of all those transfers and recruits, did they not bring in anyone to replace sims etc? Brock Cunningham was being relied upon significantly to guard bigs. He's severely outmatched
Yeah, I just realized that game was tonight, and there's 3-4 other games throughout the day worth watching. Looks like I'm done doing stuff after lunch and will make it a hoops day. Dylan Disu is expected back very soon, he's a beast in the paint (transfer from Vandy, led the SEC in rebounding last year). But no, they don't have anybody over 6'9"-6'10"
Texas Southern was a 24 point underdog at #20 Florida and stomped them, first win of the season (they play a very tough non-conf schedule and all 8 of their games have been on the road). First time a SWAC school has beaten a ranked SEC school in 52 games since the AP started rankings in 1936.
Very surprised at how entertaining this college season has been, It was unwatchable 2 years ago kind of like a higher-level YMCA game. Did covid drive a lot of guys to do 1 year in college and to come back?
