I think at some point he deserves to get a job at what he is good at. I wonder if the admins who let this stuff happen at Baylor are having trouble getting jobs.
He's got a great "job" here at Horseshoe Bay collecting checks and playing golf, I wouldn't feel sorry for him.
Is he still getting paid? He obviously still has desire to coach and I think lower level coaches and players can benefit from his teaching. If Urban Meyer can still be in demand, Briles can coach for a HBCU.
No idea, I'm assuming so since his payoff was $15M and that's not usually done in a lump sum, don't know the terms of it though. Not that it really matters.
Not that it matters. We all know. BUT - is Texas supposed to be good now? Really? Or just hype? Baylor isn't better than them? ---- The ESPN College Football Power Index has calculated its top-25 teams heading into the 2022 season. These rankings are calculated using the expected point margin against an average team on a neutral field (FPI). Alabama Crimson Tide Ohio State Buckeyes Georgia Bulldogs Clemson Tigers Notre Dam Fighting Irish Texas Longhorns Michigan Wolverines Oklahoma Sooners Pittsburgh Panthers Auburn Tigers LSU Tigers Penn State Nittany Lions Oklahoma State Cowboys Texas A&M Aggies Utah Utes Michigan State Spartans Ole Miss Rebels Miami Hurricanes Baylor Bears Kentucky Wildcats Wisconsin Badgers North Carolina Tar Heels Oregon Ducks Mississippi State Bulldogs Florida Gators
A bit shocked to see a rich white guy in Alabama say capitalism isn't sustainable. Young mostly black people start making money and now there's a problem. Lulzt.
No he is not wrong but now players are on par with coaches who have been doing the same thing forever. Cry me a river.
Millionaire coaches tryna act like a degree from a **** school like UH is worth an exchange of a player's time, lulzts. Pay em'.
The lowest paid coach in the P5 earns like 2.5 million dollars a year. The average NIL deal probably nets like a couple thousand bucks and a pair of sneakers or some ****. The idea they're on the same level, lol. Saban ain't wrong though, and everyone butthurt about it can learn to deal. The days of kids turning their brains and bodies into oatmeal for a college gift certificate are over and not a moment too soon. If you wanna be mad at somebody be mad at the NFL for not creating any kind of functioning farm system.
Never said that the NIL or the transfer rules are wrong, let the players get theirs and I fully support that. All I said was, when I agreed with Saban, is that it opens up constant recruiting and a system where the "haves" can, through various resources, just basically buy players, to the detriment of the "have nots". Instead of the Wild West situation as it exists, there should maybe be some additional rules in place. What those would/should/could be, I have no idea. And yes, sports coaches being the highest paid state employees is a ****ing ridiculous status quo that I don't know how to change. Same with stadium/arena funding for pro teams.
Case in point: USC "buying" a WR for $2M, and good for him https://pittsburghsportsnow.com/202...oints-toward-ugly-future-of-college-football/
