He’s unlocked something. That was to straightaway center and the swing looked effortless; small park, juiced ball, crummy pitcher, etc I don’t care, there is easy plus power in that swing. There are plenty of reasons to project him as an above average everyday CF in the big leagues. If another team tries to trade for him they better pay up.
Matthew Barefoot has a pair of home runs for Asheville today. He now has 16 on the season. He might be in Corpus by the end of the month.
Haven't followed the minors much, but I like that he's hitting on the road and not just in Asheville's ridiculous ballpark.
Norel Gonzalez also hit 2 HR today. Post-deadline roster shuffle I’m hoping to see: Narbe Cruz to Fayetteville Correa, Dirden, and Berryhill to High A Barefoot to AA Manea and Gonzalez to AAA
I'm a little surprised Leon got moved to AAA. He's cut his Ks a lot, but still looked like he was transitioning to play in AA. Though, it could be to help him get work on defense in a faster environment.
I was not initially a fan of moving the teams around, but I sure appreciate having AAA right next to Houston.
Anyone catch that Colin Barber is out for the year with shoulder surgery? Reported on July 11 but didn't see anything about it here
1B Jake Adams was released today. 6th rounder in 2017, Luhnow said he graded his power as a 70, but strikeouts ended up being his downfall. He is the highest 2017 draftee to be released so far. 14 2017 draftees remain in Houston's system (not counting Marty Costes who didn't sign in 2017 and was drafted again in 2018).
I wonder if any of the draftees will be brought up to replace the promotions from Fayetteville. I wouldn't mind seeing Hamilton, Kato, and Williams for a short audition.
