I quit at the end of Season two I got tire of the main family's characters The Aunt was inssufferable Rocket River
I am really enjoying Eli Roths History of Horror, I always learn something and find movies I need to watch. On AMC and you can catch up before the end of the month. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eli+roth+history+of+horror+season+3
@Deckard @B-Bob @bobrek Have you seen Chinatown with Clint Eastwood? I haven't seen it yet. What about Ben hur .. Lawrence of Arabia? I just recently realized there are more than one of the planet apes movies from the 60s 70s. Need to get to those Looking to get some recommendations on films. I'm interested in 40s - 80s. Any Orson Welles flicks besides citizen Kane and 3rd man? @rocketsjudoka What about Roman era whether documentary or dramatized? I thought Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor was better than I expected
Hahaha, asking "old guys" about these movies. Brief response. Chinatown with Nicholson is worth a watch, especially if you have any interest in the history of SoCal. (And you may not.) But it's one of Nicholson's better films, before became that preening caricature of himself. Ben Hur -- never seen it. I've seen the Coen Bros Hail, Ceasar!... I think it's kind of send up of making those old gladiator sorts of films. Lawrence of Arabia -- tried to watch it twice when I was in grad school b/c a friend loved it. But I couldn't stand it. Overacted, weird, boring as old dog ****! Lots of Planet of the Apes movies. I really liked the first one, and some goofy friends of mine really get into all the different ones. As a kid, I watched one or two in like after-school UHF (you wouldn't understand) movie times, but they never seemed very compelling to me. Maybe the plots are interesting (?) Proceed with caution because they are low budget by modern standards! In reviewing some of them, I kind of liked Beneath the Planet of the Apes, b/c it's so weird. LOL. Spoiler
Thank you appreciate your thoughts . I remember uhf haha. Not old ..but wise!! I will take a look at the planet of the apes list and Chinatown. Thanks doesn't hbo have some good Roman dramatizations? I assumed you might be all about this genre. Spartacus is one haven't either
If you like old comedy, check out old Marx Brothers movies... Mindless movies...Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe.. Sendup of Elvis movies, the 80s Val Kilmer classic, Top Secret Old Horror... the original The Haunting Humphrey Bogart - Casablanca, African Queen
Didn't they have a series, including Caligula? Speaking of, I used to love BBC's "I, Claudius" series. Such amazing acting, and bringing the history to life.
Yes there are shows like Rome which I’ve heard good things about but haven’t seen. The Starz Spartacus is entertaining but not exactly historical or deep.
Joey, do you like movies about gladiators? If you've never spent time in a Turkish prison, I'd suggest you watch Midnight Express. Rome was quite good from what I remember. There's been a couple of mediocre movies about the Lost Legion, somebody should have made something epic about that.
I enjoyed some like it hot with Marilyn Monroe. Hadn't seen any elvis movies aren't there like 50? Rome on HBO looks involved 2 seasons. Appreciate the replies
Any decent sci-fi shows out there? I've got The Expanse to start watching soon, but looking for anything else. Already know about all the Star Treks, so not including those. lol.
This isn't a series, but if you have Amazon Prime, they have an independent film that I liked. In fact, I've seen it twice and will be looking for more films by the director, The Vast of Night. It's science fiction with a Twilight Zone air about it that takes place over the course of one night in a small town sometime during the late 1950's. If mysterious science fiction sounds intriguing, check it out.
I loved the original Twilight Zone. Not really into murder/horror stuff, so hopefully not that. I'll check it out soon, otherwise. Thanks!
