@Nook any news you've heard on the Astros front for trades? It's been very quiet and we haven't heard much even from the local media.
Sterling Marte about yo be traded for sure Diamondbacks turned down his option next year if not traded by deadline just reported
The Astros had little interest in Ray. The Astros have shown some degree of interest in Bradley for the pen and they have spoken to the Rangers about Lynn as well. It is harder for me to get information with COVID and the change at the top. The person that gives me information is still with the team but he is not as close to the new GM as he is a holdover. Also as a side note there is a feeling that players this off season are not going to be remotely happy with the market, which could leave some veterans taking short money.
Lynn would be a great add. But then u gotta look at who is moving down? Pen is ruff and we need another bat
I'm fine with the Astros sitting out this deadline. I'm guessing the asking price is too high as many teams want pieces that are performing well with the big club at the moment. Anyway, with Bregman, Urquidy, Peacock, Devinski, and possibly Verlander on the way back, that's better than any trade they can make. Now, if they can get Bradley for cheap, that would shore up the closer spot...basically the biggest weakness on the staff at the moment.
Pressly's stuff has translated well ever since those early appearances where his arm was likely not fully stretched out. But that does leave a void for the setup-guy which he was also excellent at.... if no deal is made, I'm fine with seeing how Taylor/Paredes split those duties over the next few weeks.
Interesting, interesting. Thanks for the info. I hope it's not the only criteria either, but if it is... it is then. In time, we could get another Springer someday.
I feel similarly. I think Lynn would be a great add, and to a lesser extent Bradley as well. Other than those 2, I am happy with standing pat, trying to get healthy, while simultaneously giving the young guys some valuable experience.
Jonathan Villar to Toronto Starling Marte to Miami -- Caleb Smith, Humberto Mejia and a player to be named later are headed to the Diamondbacks for Starling Marte
Its safe to presume that the entire team was adversely impacted... hell, the only manager most of them ever knew was forced out due to what was a player-led system. Some may still be feeling the impact of things (Altuve). We shall see if it truly weighs hard enough to warrant wanting out of the organization.
Only thing I would like to see the Astros do is add a veteran relief pitcher. Getting Urquidy, Bregman and possibly Verlander back over the next month are 3 big acquisitions on their own.
We need to get a stud reliever. If we get Verlander and Urquidy back, we should be ok everywhere else. Especially if Tucker keeps doing his Air Yordan impression
