Astros signed 3 more UDFA's yesterday: 1. Jimmy Endersby - RHP - Concordia University Irvine 2. Cody Orr - OF - Tiffin University 3. Jonathan Sprinkle - RHP - Central Missouri Sauce: Astros facebook page
From AstrosCounty *Chandler Rome: Meet Cody Orr, the Astros' "most fascinating free agent signing." Orr runs a 6.43 60, can play five positions, and pitches out of two different arm slots.
Straw is 6.25 for reference. Fisher was 6.65. If he has defensive instincts as the article suggests, he won't have to hit much to be an up and down player.
A few years ago Fisher was the 2nd or third fastest player in all of baseball in actual game speed from the box to second base.
It doesn't look like Houston is going to get much of anything out of this draft, which shouldn't be much of a surprise. Whitcomb reached the majors and has been an extremely productive minor leaguer, and features a great power/speed combo for a guy who can technically play everywhere but P and C, but he hasn't really gotten an extended look in MLB. It's not impossible for him to break out, but it would likely come with another team. Santos is toiling in AA and barring a major late career breakout he is unlikely to reach the majors. Ty Brown and Zach Daniels both topped out with AAA cups of coffee before being released.
