2OT now. Spain kept trailing for most of OT like in the regular time, but Marc Gasol saved them with his clutch FTs. If Delly would just stop taking so many shots, I feel like Australia would have won by now.
Australia has completely collapsed in the 2nd OT. Too bad. They seem too tired and leave Spains shooters wide open. Already a 8 point lead seems too much to come back from.
Fiba bball and NBA bball have different size courts, different formats and different rules and regulations. Just for that no, the NBA champion is definitely NOT the world champion. A Champions League football champion could "theoritically" win the World Cup but theoritically anyone can win it.. In reality they would have much less than 20% chance to do so. Actually a Champions League champion often isn't even the champion of their own country much less to have the arrogance and narcissism to call themselves "world champions".
Spain to the finals. Another cakewalk championship for them like in the past. Others did the hard work taking out Serbia and USA and they will just reap the benefits.
Man that was hard to watch. Every Aussie shat the bed down the stretch except for Patty Mills. Delly and Jingles need to have a good hard look at themselves, that was pissweak.
Not sure who you asked, but generally club teams are seen as stronger due to practicing together all season, whereas it's difficult to develop automatisms, chemistry and a deep strategy with a national team. You always see a drop-off in quality when nations play, top Champions League play on a higher level than national squads, except for maybe some of the golden generation teams like prime Spain or Italy.
It depends on how you define "world championship tournament." I'm not gonna go into it again. It was debated some years ago. In short, I think people often confuse "best team" with "champion." "Best team" is an abstract opinion. "Champion" is a factual winner of a tournament. But there is imo room for debate about what constitutes a "world tournament." I know your question is directed to the German fans here. From my contacts with soccer fans in various countries, I am pretty sure winning World Cup is a bigger deal than winning Champions League. How many people tune in to watch the Champions League final, versus the number of people watching the World Cup? My guess is that there are so many professional ball clubs. Fanbases are too scattered. National teams on the other hand unite fanbases. And professional players change teams all the times. They are pretty much mercenaries. Playing for national team is a completely different mentality.
