...is because the people who matter do not think like you do. That is why they are where they are, and....

Ken Giles ranked #11 among qualified MLB relievers in FIP last season and #16 in ERA. No way the Astros are going to let go of a guy like that.

He blew 4 saves all year and converted 34 saves. If the MLB hadn't pulled a fast one on all the pitchers in the WS and instead used the same balls as in the regular season, the Dodgers wouldn't have been able to sit on his fastball and his stat line would have looked good. If the MLBPA is doing its job, it will force the league to keep the balls essentially the same from year to year and from month to month.

The Astros reliever I'm most concerned about is Hector Rondon. Even more so than Tony Sipp, who looks to be getting his act together. There are plenty of minor league guys who could come in and replace Rondon (McCurry, Armenteros, Valdez, C Perez, Paulino) if he's struggling but the organization would be reluctant to cut bait with a veteran making a decent paycheck like Rondon, especially if his replacement would cost the team a spot on the 40-man.

On Opening Day last year my family was in the same spot "they" were.. on the field before the game as personal guests of the Houston Astros

Also got the invite for this year. They throw a nice Xmas party too at Union Station....

I hope Giles is fine. I would rather have a legit backup plan for closer than keep McHugh and Gattis (if payroll was an issue). That's all.

    That's awesome!

I don't know what that has to do with anything, but that's awesome.

I took batting practice at Target Field last year in my Keuchel jersey and Colt .45's hat). Paul Molitor would roll his eyes if I gave him advice (and he actually knows me when I remind him who I am).

    That you?

Other than your stupid looking shoes and your weight too far back over you ass, you look good for an old man.

Put a blue star on that.

Yea we wouldn't try to give advice but man my brother has said some awkward stuff to ownership. I remember one time he said he was glad they brought Ashby back to do commentary.... it was a week after they had fired him. I wanted to crawl into a hole and hide when they were like "yea.... we didn't bring him back this year."

If you watch a lot of games you will notice the Crane's aren't usually sitting in Uncle Drayton's seats right behind home plate. They give them out all the time.

4 Astros errors in a game... don't recall it ever happening last season.

I think Fisher and JD Davis make the team and one goes down when Gurriel is ready.

Reed is only a 1B/DH. Davis has played 3rd, OF, and 1st this spring and I think the Astros like the flexibility.
