Reed’s bat seems to be really slow through the zone. Any power he might have is being neutralized by pitchers taking advantage of his slow bat.

For reference, here is A.J. Reed's very first major league AB on June 25, 2016: I haven't tried to compare his batting mechanics today to what they were in June 2016, but if we see him in today's game that will allow a comparison.
In his first major league AB there, Reed took a walk so you don't get to see how he was swinging the bat. Here is a double he hit in 2016: I'll be interested to compare his swing in ST this year to what he was doing at the plate in 2016. White made the changes that he needed to make. Will Reed make his?
Looks like Reed should ask to try his hand at pitching. He's not getting anywhere offensively. Pull an Anthony Gose in other words.

Well.. Ken Giles is still in post season form. Trade Gattis and McHugh for some prospects. A catcher prospect would be nice. Sign Greg Holland
Did you watch the game and see the third baseman essentially hand the Mets two extra outs? Totally blew a routine grounder. Totally blew what should have been an easy DP. To deconstruct the first 4 batters. Routine grounder to third, misplayed for an error. Soft liner to Altuve Fisted single to right DP Ball to third misplayed where only one out was made.
Resilience like overcoming the first error and a fisted bloop single by coaxing a routine inning ending double play ball?
I don't expect him to get out cleanly every time he is dealt a bad hand. I'm only looking for some improvement because his track record in 2017 wasn't impressive in this regard.
This was one of those low FIP outings that resulted in a lot of runs scored (though unearned). James Hoyt had several of them last year.
