Rankin doesn't project all that well at tackle, in my opinion. I think he could be a solid starter on the interior, especially at center but also at guard.
We do, but Rankin isn't one of them. He's a tackle/guard hybrid. Reminds me of Senio Kelemete, to be honest.
So, better tackles are on the board and they take this guy? Yes, they need help. Desperately. But GOOD players, not just bodies are needed to win.
I agree with the assessment and the skepticism My prediction is Tyrell Crosby or Orlando Brown if they're available.
He's slightly short for an NFL tackle, but he's not a project. He's polished and was a blue chip recruit. Compared to all the other guys available, he is far more ready to step in and play right away, probably on the right side. A bunch of people here wanted Connor Williams, and all of the length/physical concerns are exactly the same for Williams. His arms are 3/4 of an inch longer than Williams'. If you were good with Williams playing tackle for the Texans, you should be OK with Rankin.
Zach Fulton - best at center but we'll try him at guard Martinas Rankin - best at interior but we'll try him at tackle Nick Martin - can't stay healthy but you're locked in at center. Like the NBA, we'll just go positionless! Screw center, guard, tackle! Be versatile but not necessarily good @justtxyank
