The hell? We aren't in a position to take risk. We need players who have NBA skills and will be actually playable against the Warriors in the playoffs. Both of these players are because neither are slouches on defense. Both players seem capable of developing into nice 3&D players and fitting well with our switch everything defense.
In the end, this is all about our continued quest to topple the Warriors. Morey took another step in the right direction tonight by beating Golden State in the draft. Despite having a higher pick than Houston, Warriors picked Jacob Evans who was rated lower than De'Anthony Melton, who was actually rated as a first round pick. Rockets also were able to buy another second round pick from Utah in Vince Edwards. The Warriors failed to buy a pick like they were able to last year. Houston also just signed Gary Clark to a two-way contract. The offseason just started, but the Rockets are up 1-0 on the Warriors so far.
Kostas Antetokounmpo got drafted by Dallas at 60. Dallas could be a player for Giannis when his deal comes up. Especially if the Buck don't become force in the east if Lebron leaves. I would rather have Kostas and all that comes with him in our program than Zhou Xi.
Not sure ZHou XI or Vince Edwards will be either. The little brother is raw but projects to be a 6'10 or 11 SF like someone else in the west who was the MVP of the finals. We at least need to start thinking about grooming somebody to hold that dude on the defensive end of the floor. 6'8 is to short.
I was at a Draft Party so I didn't get to read all of these posts, but I hope everybody was as amused as I was that every time a white player got picked Chauncey's Player Comparison was to another white player.
