Davis has gone yard twice and accounted for 3/4 Grizzlies runs so far (through 7). Hope to see him back in Houston soon.
Updated thoughts from June: C Carlos Hurtado in the DSL is hitting well. Heitro Tokar, Franny Cobos, and Jairo Lopez are the DSL pitchers I like in the early going. Tokar especially is on the radar. Small sample early returns from the GCL are very promising. Nate Perry might be the best catching prospect in the system. Joe Perez had a dozen good PA before disappearing. Freudis Nova hasn't walked but has otherwise justified the hype. I am also still pegging Yorbin Cueta as a sleeper; no power, but he's only 18, and he'll be an up the middle defender who can walk and avoid strikeouts. I also like what Wilyer Abreu has done; I didn't know he was already 19, so he's not as young as I thought, but he's still a good prospect worth tracking, as is Nerio Rodriguez. Too much talent on that GCL roster. Enmanuel Valdez is probably the best true 2B prospect in the system. Hitting for power, walking, has some speed, only 19. Other than him, there aren't really any standouts on the TC roster. Good early returns from Beer. Hopefully there won't be a...................hangover. Time for Peter Solomon to move up. I'm high on Chad Donato; injury history will limit his hype but everything else is there. Jairo Solis has been a bit of a disappointment. Abraham Toro keeps chuggin along; a good 2 month stint in AA to finish the season would elevate his stock into Top 100 status. I think he's one of the top 10 3B prospects in the league. I would also like to see Ronnie Dawson in AA soon. Jonathan Arauz has taken a big step back in High A ball, but he's only 19 so deserves some adjustment time. STill high on Patrick Sandoval. Brett Adcock is likely bullpen bound and I think he'll excel there. Also time to move Hector Perez and Brandon Bailey to the pen and bump them up to AA. While Yordan Alvarez's AA slash line is insane for a 21 year old, he has actually taken a bit of step back; his BB and k rates aren't as stellar as his OPS. Wouldn't be surprised to see him stay in AA the entire season. Jorge Alcala will get some time to improve but is likely bullpen bound. Kyle Tucker is still easily the best position player prospect in the system. Brock Dykxhoorn and Trent Thornton are underrated. Josh James is overrated; elite k rate with below average walk rate makes him a good bet to be a great reliever but I don't see him as a successful big league SP. Glad to see Dean Deetz back.
Josh James is hitting 99 in the 6th inning. update: 2 walks and a HBP in the 6th and he got pulled. Dominant through the first 5 though...he's really intriguing for a bullpen arm. Hit 100 earlier in the game and the slider looks good.
Andy Piñeda, who is probably with Corpus on a fill-in basis, just hit a solo homer. Piñeda is known way more for his speed; this was just the third home run of his pro career.
Only to walk two and then hit the next batter to load the bases. Kent Emanuel allows two of the three inherited runners to score before escaping the 6th with one hit (no ER).
Myles Straw went 4-5 with a stolen base and scored Fresno's only run in their 3-1 loss to Sacramento. Straw now has 44 stolen bases this season.
Seth Beer looks like the real deal. I think he has a puncher's chance for him to be called up late 2019. His obp and even average have been stellar so far. His power will always be there.
