Stubbs got injured last night with a ball hitting his right shoulder. Had to be taken out of the game, had trouble moving the arm. Any updates? I think we may see a AA catcher promoted. I have real doubts about Stubbs catching in the big leagues. Would love to trade for Realmuto, I think this only supports my point more. Our catching situtation is already weak, and it will only get worse this offseason.

Interesting that Tokar hasn't pitched in 2 weeks.

Twitter search "BA top 100" and some user "Jaypers413" posted it there (on mobile, don't know how to embed tweets)

J.J. Matijevic hit two homers (two-run and solo) for Buies Creek today; he now has ten in the Carolina League and 13 on the season.

Good to see, he had been in a serious slump the past 30 games or so.

This exhange got me thinking. I went back and looked at the peak BA Top 100 ranking of players who’ve come through Houston’s farm:

Peak BA 100 ranking of players currently in the system who Houston either signed originally or acquired as prospects:

    Correa 1
    Bregman 1
    Whitley 7
    Tucker 8
    Reed 11
    Martes 15
    Springer 18
    Peacock 36
    Alvarez 36
    McCullers 50
    Paulino 51
    Bukauskas 76
    Fisher 83
    Martin 83

Peak ranking of players Houston traded away as prospects:
    Appel 31
    Hader 33
    Perez 35
    Phillips 57
    Folty 59
    Moran 61
    Cameron 74
    Abreu 77
    Musgrove 83
    Guzman 87
    Villar 96

    Peak ranking of busts:
    Singleton 27
    Wallace 27
    Cosart 50
    Dominguez 64

    Thoughts:
It would be a pretty big miss for Reed or Martes to bust.
Luhnow hasn’t traded away guys who rank in the top 20. With continued success in AAA I’d expect Alvarez to be in the Top 20 at the end of the season.
I’d guess Luhnow has Alvarez as untouchable along with Whitley and Tucker, and that Fisher, Martin, Davis, C Perez, and Bukauskas are probably the prospects he’s shopping trying to add an impact player or two.

This just proves that Lunhow values minor league prospects as high as anyone.

Also, Andy Piñeda, who performed pretty well during his 2.5 weeks with Corpus, was sent back to Tri-City.

Just read that. That's even a slightly more optimistic report than Oz's. Hopefully he can finish the season stateside and start in QC next year.

From BA's list of fallers for the Athletics:
    • The Athletics’ other prospects who had failed to live up to preseason expectations had done so largely because of injury, making it unfair to classify them as falling.
    The only Astro's faller:
    • RHP David Paulino has eight seasons as a pro. He also has eight stints on the disabled list (and one PED suspension). This year, he’s missed time with a shoulder injury, coming on the heels of the bone chips in his elbow that sent him to the DL last year. Paulino still has plenty of potential, but this is his third season on the 40-man roster for a club contending for World Series rings. His best avenue at this point may be to be dealt to a rebuilding team that can be patient with him and see if he can stay healthy.
Although I'm not sure who the best prospect that has disappointed for non-injury reasons. Dawson (who is apparently playing legit CF and stealing a ton of bases)? Robinson? Armenteros hasn't replicated his strikeout success from last year, so maybe him? I guess I'm a little disappointed Bailey hasn't forced his way to AA yet, but that's nitpicking maybe.

This year for me, relative to what they needed, Fisher.
