I said this in another thread but it needs repeating. People look for reasons why we lose to certain teams but the reason has nothing to do with the other team.

Ariza, Anderson and Gordon got wide open 3s last night. WIDE OPEN. These are the same shots Harden creates for them every single night. When they make those shots we win. When they make some of them we have a chance. When they brick non-stop we have no chance.

We aren't having bad shooting nights because of some amazing defense though. Ryan Anderson and Ariza in particular last night were getting shots off the pass with no one near them and they just missed.

Because of the nature of our roster we don't really have ways to win if we don't make our 3s. In a playoff series you just have to hope we don't go cold for 4 games in a series.

Those guys are tall enough to finish inside and they have. Anderson has boxed and grabbed plenty boards in critical situations as well as put back layups. Last night it was more than just missing 3s. The Rockets were completely out rebounded by a large margin. They should have run more clever pick and rolls to try to score inside.

I find myself agreeing with you most of the time, but would you say there are no recurring defensive strategies among the teams we've lost to? Or that there's nothing we can improve systematically by learning from our losses?

    No, not saying that.

However, the Grizzlies for example didn't cover the shooters in any special way. We were just missing wide open shots. There are other things they could do to make up for some issues of course, but ultimately the issue will be making or missing their 3s.

Luckily, @justtxyank we have enough shooters that- barring major injury- its unlikely everyone will be cold for all 4 games of a series. If we bring in one more key rotation guy to take Brewers' spot- statistically speaking- we shouldn't run into too many issues with getting cold.

good vent night. this game sucked. turnovers and casual ball handling caught up to us big time.

The only amelioration is the fact that GSW lost.

This team does not have a championship caliber D. Which is okay because this is a brand new team, year one in the new coaching staff and no one expected us to compete for a championship this year anyway. So with that in mind, you could say we are ahead of schedule. It might take a trade or a year for the D to develop into championship level.

I would like to ventilate some of the fair weather fans who assassinate our team after every loss. It's like zero losses are realistic, when these very same fans were projecting this team to fail to reach playoffs or not have any success if they did reach playoffs.

Their agendas are so obviously transparent, more important for them to be right than team to do well. January was not as fun as December, but looking forward to 2nd half of season, Rockets are still on a historic pace.

I would like to ameliorate team fatigue (Ariza, Splash, Harden, Bev), injuries (EGo's ankle & toe, Harden's ankle, Bev's wrist, Capela's leg, Ryno's flu, etc.), 3 ball (where hast thou gone?), deeper rotation and most importantly some new blood.

Trade, sign or steal a couple of players that will improve rim protection, rebounding, perimeter D and another 3 point shooter or two.

    Cleveland has played 43 games.
    San Antonio 44.
    Dubs 45.

    Rockets 48. Something wrong there.

everybody plays 82 games in the same time span, i never hear Spurs complain about their Rodeo trip every season, playing 8 or 9 consecutive road games in including couple of back to backs or 4 game in 5 nights during the trip as well, how the hell did they win 50+ games in 18 straight season??

Everyone not named Harden isn't putting the work in and it shows. You can tell when Harden didn't do his job or didn't practice/study because those are the games we lose by 20 to mediocre teams (Pacers/Bucks).

Games like these reek of ::shrug I guess Hardens got this one right guys lol:: This team is coasting. Plain and simple. That's on Dantoni, going full Kevin Mchale this last month.

And for the love of all that is good and Holy if Brewer plays meaningful minutes for this team then they deserve to lose every game that happens in.

Game changed when Pat started talking trash and then got punked by Dwight. You up big, keep your damn mouth shut. Instead he woke them up.

No ventilating for me. Just realization that December was mostly a fluke. Team is about what we expected going into the year now.

Calm down. We are still sitting at the 3rd seed.

This. Most of us thought this team was a high 40 win team. We forgot that when we we had that crazy end of November\December. This is just this team falling back down to the mean. They will probably finish between 5-7 with seeding at the end of the year.

Not sure why we are bumping this thread after a close win? o_O

It was embarrassing - no doubt- but at the end of the day let's just relax.

This team is clutch enough to overcome their own stupidity.

I think they can hang onto Top 4. December banked a lot of wins. But yeah...not confident they get back to that level.

You know whats the sad thing thing about blowing a 20 something point lead is? Me almost getting decapitated from your wife because you're cursing in front of your 2 year old daughter. If you have kids you know what its like because they repeat what you say. Hopefully this is not a daily thing with the Rockets because I wouldn't want to get a divorce.

Tell your little girl she could curse when (and only when) the Rockets lost like that. That's what real fans do. :D
