They better get him ready to start, perhaps with limited gameplans, because it's 50/50 at best that Savage comes out of preseason without an injury.
I thought Pat was clear that Watson is far from starting and has a really long way to go - he even told an anecdote about Watson not being able to even get a throw off before the drill finished. He just said that others have similarly struggled (some worse) in their first days with O'Brien. Last year he was not at all a Brock enthusiast. He said repeatedly Savage was the better player at camp. He just said that Brock looked good at times later in camp. That was probably true - Brock couldn't handle any time of actual pressure, but probably did throw OK in camp at times. None of us have any idea how Watson will do, and won't even have an inkling until live preseason action. Even then we need to give it a year. Anyone who says differently is just blowing smoke.
Winners win and win and win. That's what they do; that's what they have always done. Watson will start.
If he doesn't start week 1 then there is no telling when he'll play. I'm expecting Savage to do just enough to not be pulled out of the game.
To me that's always been the key with Savage, staying healthy. In addition, he's a statue in the pocket and holds on to the ball too long....all bad traits to be a QB in the NFL
I'm a Savage fan and would love to see what he can do with some consistent play time. The guy throws a great ball and seems to have a great grasp of the plays. Obviously injuries have slowed him down and they continue to be a question mark. He will, and should, start barring injuries but Watson needs to keep putting in the work because his time will come.
Maybe not top 5...but at his peak, I'd put him top 10. He was a very good QB and led the team to one of the best offenses in the league. I think it's easy to forget just how effective Schaub was, due to the way his career ended. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouth and seems to have tarnished everything he accomplished as our QB. Prime Schaub on this team and were favorites to win it all, no doubt.
Yeah, he was. It just didn't last very long and the team's defense in those days was every bit as pathetic as the offense was last year so a lot of people don't realize that due to the lack of winz
LOL he should, he's the reason it's true. I can't believe that gut got another job in the NFL after that.
Look at his stats in the 2009 and 2010 seasons and both those numbers are in the top 5 whether you want to argue that or not
