TJ Yates is the greatest Houston Texan that never was.

they haven't been paying attention. You could put any member on this board behind center and the texans will have the option to rest players headed into the playoffs.

Does anyone worry about his build? I feel like his body will incur a lot of damage. His frame seems small.

    He's 6'2 221.

Around the same size as Aaron Rodgers.

I'm pretty sure the Texans just got through doing exactly that....

His build is fine. Pocket presence, his ability to escape pressure and mastering the art of sliding will go a long way.
Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, most here probably don't remember the multiple hard hits and concussions he suffered early in his career before figuring things out. Hopefully Watson doesn't have to learn the hard way like Rodgers.

Watson has the mentality to be a elite qb in this league.

Same. Would be so Houston if he flops, and they miss out on good QBs next year with no 1st or 2nd.

I was too young to watch the Oilers, and only watched the Texans when I was younger, so the QB struggles are embedded in my pessimism for why we can't make the leap.

I really want Deshaun to succeed, but it seems like the odds are so against him.

We were all talking a big game when we signed Brock. But it's so Houston, Houston luck. Just when we have all the pieces, the one piece we need, we miss.

Agreed bro but as the great one named Bobby has stated, it's hard to bet against Rick when it comes to first round picks.

We can't miss in the first.
We can't field a decent QB.

    Something has to give.

    Offensive Rookie of the Year:
    1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston Texans

Any quarterback that performs well has the inside track to Rookie of the Year, and at least on paper, Watson is the only one of the top four that figures to start early. Watson also has a lot to like about his game, and you need look no further than the national title game against Alabama for a look at what he can do. Three touchdowns, no picks, 72 rushing yards, and another score behind an offensive line that was overmatched and overwhelmed much of the game shows elite potential. In that game, his NFL passer rating when pressured was 80.4, and he still completed 50 percent of his passes. If he can eliminate or limit his mistakes, he could have early success for Houston.

    Most Polarizing Grades

    https://www.footballoutsiders.com/nfl-draft/2017/2017-nfl-draft-report-card-report

    3. Houston Texans
    GPA: 3.11
    Standard Deviation: 0.78
    Highest Grade: A (3 tied)
    Lowest Grade: C+ (3 tied)
Comments: The Texans' polarizing rating is all hinged on quarterback Deshaun Watson. About half of the graders felt trading up for Watson was a very risky move that could set the franchise back for years. The other half felt Watson was perfect for this team and could be the key to getting the Texans over the hump. After the Watson pick, most graders liked where the Texans went, selecting linebacker Zach Cunningham to eventually replace Brian Cushing, and D'Onta Foreman to help in the backfield with Lamar Miller. Ultimately, though, it comes down to whether you believe Deshaun Watson can be the quarterback the Texans need him to be.
