He has mashed for 2 games, not so much in the other 4. Certainly off to a better start than last year.
Only 4 AL West prospects in that list, the 2 Astros, Taveras for the Rangers, and Barreto for the A's.
Ryan Hartman allowed a run (on a solo homer) on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5 in 5 innings. That homer he allowed, unfortunately, is the only run of the game. Quad Cities is trailing Peoria 1-0 in the 6th.
HYPE from Baseball Prospectus daily report. If Whitley can repeat his delivery and throw strikes, he's gonna move fast. Forrest Whitley, RHP, Houston Astros, (Low-A, Quad Cities): 5 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 6 K Touching 98 in this game, Whitley was the prototypical “big Texan” of last year’s draft, signing for $3,178,000 to forego his college commitment. Unlike most other former prep arms, Whitley has a four-pitch mix, with the curveball and fastball the best offerings
Hector Perez tagged in and threw 4.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 3, and striking out 5. He got the L as Quad Cities walked off with a 3-2 loss in 10 innings. The winning run was an inherited runner that was charged to him.
So... uh... Lupe Chavez, who the Astros acquired from the Blue Jays for Scott Feldman, retired yesterday.
That doesnt make sense. If he pitched 4.1 innings then he would have had to inherit a runner way before the 10th inning.

I'm sure if his career as a stud hitter never materializes, he will give pitching a try. His stuff was legit and draft worthy on it's own. However, there's no need to resort to gimmickry at this point. He's still a hitter, and he needs to concentrate fully on that aspect so he can hopefully turn into an everyday starter.
Not shaping up to be a banner day in the system. - Buies Creek got smacked 7-1 in Winston-Salem - Corpus is trailing their home opener 6-0 in the 5th to Arkansas - Quad Cities trails Kane County 4-0 in the 8th... but they have the bases loaded with nobody out
