Hector Perez rolling through 3 scoreless in Quad Cities. He's allowed a hit, a walk, and struck out 7 so far.
Let us know how Teo's playing the OF, he has serious potential if he can do that one thing. eta: Hell, I guess the same goes for Fisher.
A couple of relievers coming off long layoffs had solid appearances and earned saves last night: Riley Ferrell struck out the side (in order) to close out Buies Creek's 5-3 win over Winston-Salem. IIRC, he missed a vast majority of 2016 due to a nerve problem in his throwing shoulder. Derick Velazquez saved Quad Cities' 3-0 win over Wisconsin. Velazquez was a 7th-round pick in 2014 out of Fresno State who posted really good numbers for Tri-City in his draft year, and then he ended up missing the next 2 years due to multiple arm surgeries. He had Tommy John in the 2014-15 offseason and then missed 2016 due to another surgery.
Two electric arms, with Ferrell having legit closer potential. Excited to see how quickly he can move through the system.
Here's a BA story centered on White Sox 2016 1st-rounder Zack Collins, who was facing Buies Creek. Akeem Bostick and Riley Ferrell were both mentioned in the article; they were both sitting 92-93 on their fastballs. Bostick got "multiple swings and misses with his slider." Obviously, Ferrell's trying to knock off some rust. He struck out Collins for the final out.
Alex Winkelman allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 9 over 5 shutout innings for Buies Creek tonight.
Fisher might be making a move. He's probably the only prospect in the system with 30/30 potential, although it's probably more like 40SB/20HR potential. Some pretty good pitching lines over these last few days highlighting the depth in the system.
