I haven't seen video refereeing in action yet. What leagues are doing it and what do you think of it? It sounds like you like the process. Does it slow the game down like it does in football? Do they get calls wrong in replay like they do in football or is it closer to what baseball does?
I'm a fan of Man U so I'm hoping the game is under control within the first 30 minutes so I can focus on Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea or PSG/Bayern. I have two ways to watch (computer/tv) so I can only pick two. I think I may go PSG/Bayern and Man U then switch once I feel like I know what's going on. It's a shame not to have more options! So much quality in two games. It feels like an elimination round.
I know Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Portugal are using it, not sure about other leagues. It is a great method in theory and works most of the time, but you need quality refs for this, otherwise you'll have a potential disaster like in Confed Cup. It slows the game down a tiny bit of course (<1min per call, usually), but I feel like this isn't an issue, as the decisions are for situations where the play has stopped anyways (got a link below, the four categories are goals, penalties, red cards and wrongly awarded cards). My only problem is how there's no clear approach, the refs are kinda free in deciding when to review something and there's already been a handful situations where there was a non-called handball for instance, but no video review. There's a great summary on the process here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_assistant_referee
Playing without a real winger tonight, but I also think this is how we're playing best this season. Critics will destroy Ancelotti if we lose this though, it takes balls to not start Robben and Ribery.
Bayern with an interesting lineup. No Hummels, Robben, Ribéry or Coman - but Süle, Müller and James. Let's see what Carlo has in mind. First crucial match of the season. My body is ready.
Paris with strong counters Is it me or did James turn superstar status only at WC, did not impress at club level recently.
Check out reddit or common stream sites like firstrow or Rajangan. He did quite well versus Schalke, but I think starting him tonight was a mistake, since he hasn't been with the team for too long. We need Coman to make our game less forseeable. Down 2-0 doesn't look very well, need to show up in the 2nd half.
I'm giving it a shot today. I don't like it so far because you don't get a feel for how any one team is doing, but at least I catch most of the action. I saw that Celtic goal which wouldn't have ever happened without it, so it does that for you for sure. It's almost like watching youtube highlights live.
No need to overreact. Alaba just back from an injury, Neuer would've had that second goal, Ancelotti's mistake to play James over Coman... this wasn't a horrible performance, a lot of things just went to the wrong direction, starting with the early goal. We still have a great core that can win this title.
