Bolt looked awesome in the semi final goofing off 20-30 meters out looking around and smiling, but still running a 9.84. In the final he pushed hard all the way through the line and only improved to 9.81 and he just looked really labored off the line.

From what I understand, as good as Bolt is, he has been having a down few years. He is also a bad starter in general, but he has too much length (less steps) and otherworldly top end speed. When everyone is slowing down he is still accelerating. It's probably why the 200 is his best event.

Justin Gatlin is a tremendous starter but can't maintain against Bolt's top end speed

I've seen Bolt struggle like he did in these finals many times before. Check out his Performance at the Worlds when he barely beat Gatlin a couple years ago. Even when he is garbage, he is better than anyone else on the planet.

Make sure you're watching the online feed, NBC won't show her dance.

I should say "might not show" her dance. I've been watching the online feeds for the field events and they show every participant for every heat when it comes to the track events. They even show behind the track warmups and the walk out of the tunnel.

NBC took out a lot of Usain Bolt''s walk out and crowd reaction.

based on your list of sports, i'm guessing you are basing that on topendsports. their numbers don't seem accurate. their calculation of fans for cricket (2.5 billion) would basically have to include every single person who lives in the former british empire, including india's massive population. same goes for field hockey (2 billion). obviously not every single person in a country is a "fan" of that sport. or if they are, then giving basketball 400 million is far too low. that would basically be the US and canada and ignore all of south america, all of europe, all of china, all of australia, and wherever basketball is played in africa. certainly the money for basketball is bigger than those sports and i found several websites listing it as 2nd in the world.

Oh boy Pia Sundhage and Sweden women just made Hope Solo look dumb...

    Sweden beat USA AND Brazil.

USA should have held on to Pia. she is the best coach.

I'd have to agree. Basketball definitely has to be a top 3 sport in the world. It's already massive and growing more and more popular in the world's most populous nation.

Brazilians are booing American athletes in boxing now. Why are Brazilians so salty all of sudden?

First time an American medals running the 1500 and the announcers on the NBC feed act like nothing special happened. This British guy on the online feed was way more excited.

Only Germany left to gold, haha.

I don't think they are beating Germany though, I think i've seen Germans destroy their bunker before, although i can't place it now.

Feel bad for Ross, she played so well. Walsh Jennings screwed up the first set.

Tough loss by Walsh-Jennings & Ross. The Brazilians were the better team the whole match though, hats off to them.

Match was lost when they gave up that 18-16 lead. Too many errors by Walsh, but Brazil played out of their minds with the home crowd behind them.
