Australia not this year but if Ben Simmons is who people expect him to be they will have bigs, guard play, and a superstar player. Enough to beat USA? You have to remember that Australia's young players are not playing. Next Olympics SHOULD be the best team they ever send, unless some of these guys bust...It always depends on who we send anyways. Had we sent Kawhi, Harden, Lebron, Davis in place of Klay, Barnes, Green, Lowry then USA strolls easily this year...but the 2004 Argentina team probably beats this team.
They only have a shot if the U.S. lets them have a shot. If the best players in the world aren't at the Olympics in 2020 or 2024, then sure they do. Otherwise, both will be competing for Silver. Like these Olympics where most of the best players in the world were not present, that's what it would take even with their young players such as Simmons, Wiggins etc.

Both really ... if one was clicking, U.S. still wins easily. Offense has been quite unimaginative with too much isolation and relying on whoever has the hot hand any one night.
if you're team is built mainly upon isolation players then you go with what your strengths are. It may not be the best way to play but its better than trying to integrate something that isn't ideal to the entire roster. not sure why that seems so surprising to people especially with the given amount of time the roster is finally assembled.
