Moran has low key had a killer spring. He might be my favorite prospect to follow this year, could see him up with the big club sooner rather than later.

There were a few posters on here who were very much on board with not going after big time Free Agents. Lunhow is going to use all that money to resign his core. Guy is the best GM in the league.

I like Luhnow, but the two options you described aren't mutually exclusive. We're heading into the season with an $88M payroll. That's very low. We could have splurged on some free agents and still signed our core if Crane would have opened the purse strings a bit. I'm not sure there were free agents we actually would have wanted, but I don't want to dismiss the fact that Crane still hasn't gotten over his cheap label quite yet.
I'll bite... Can you be cheap for not spending bad money? Did you want Chris Davis to a long contract that would have roadblocked our 1B prospects? I just dont see what we could have done to "shed the label." Maybe going after a free agent pitcher, but still... how often do those contracts work? If we start losing Astros to free agency, then I will start pointing a finger at Luhnow, but not signing someone to a Sabathia deal is hardly a reason to complain.
