Innings limits will definitely be in play during the regular season. In post season, all bets are off.

I will be surprised if McCullers has a sophomore slump. He is the real deal.

who are your other keepers? Any SPs? And what pick do you have? And how many pitchers (or starts) do you get per week?

In general, I'd say if you already have an elite SP as a different keeper, then go Lance. Or, if you're keeping hitters otherwise and can keep Lance and draft 2 top 20 SPs in the first 2 rounds, then do that. Hell, you can get Sale back in the 2nd I'd imagine. Those seem like better routes than dumping the value of Lance

My other keepers are Lindor (14th R) and Stroman (21st R). I have the last pick (12th overall, then 13th, then 36th, 37th...)

My worry is that, because 4 first round players are kept (and Betts, Pollack), my first (2) picks will be 2 of, say, Butista/Abreu/Encarnacion. I'm hoping Altuve or someone else falls to me. By the third round, I'll probably be looking at the 50th best overall player, so I'm inclined to just keep an elite arm like Sale, and pass on the value of Lance. 9 top 20 SPs are kept already, so I'd probably be looking at the Lester tier by my 3rd/4th picks. Thanks!

This may sound a little conspiracy theory-ie, but is it possible the Astros are kind of using the arm soreness as a reason to limit the innings of McCullers this year? I mean, tests were negative, he threw a bullpen session yesterday where he felt great, but they will probably still put him on the DL to start the season. But that gets him out of a couple starts so it is easier to limit his innings for the season, plus it gives them some non-spring training samples to look at Fiers, Feldman and Fister to see who they want to keep in the rotation once Lance comes back. Just a thought.

Wouldn't need to be a conspiracy

They have said publically they are going to limit his innings

These Mets announcers have enjoyed shi**ing on MMP and the Astros in general.

Right, but they haven't given that as a reason to put him on the DL. I'm just wondering if that might be part of the motivation.

And you just witnessed why Keuchel is a stud.

Lead off triple and a walk.

    K/double play ball.

Ok, I really wish I could be watching this live. My MLB.com gameday panel just said AJ Reed got an inside the park home run. He's one of the last guys I would have expected that from. Now I really want to see that highlight.

Of course it could be.... but like it has been said, it isn't a conspiracy or anything. I'd much rather they employ this route to limit his innings... as opposed the mid-season or end of season route that leads to all sorts of controversy, especially if this team is in the playoffs (see Matt Harvey).

But I wouldn't go as far to say that there was never an injury here, and they're just trying to hide him on the DL... he had shoulder soreness and got an MRI for it. Obviously nothing structural, but they're going to wait till he's completely healthy and pain free for an extended time before he pitches his first game.

Even with the innings restrictions, he threw a lot of innings last year (in comparison to what his arm had thrown prior).

Cespedes forgot how to baseball and it was just a double where the ball was under the fence. He made no play on it and Reed scored.

Figures... I'd say most inside the park HR's are due to a mis-play or mistake by the fielder of some kind... and its technically not an "error", even though it really is.

Ball was crushed though. 400 feet easy.

On a day where the wind may have kept it in the park, too. Richard Hidalgo says it wouldn't have been out in MMP though.

White continues doing Tyler White things and ropes a double to left. Only to be followed by Reed doubling to right to score him.

Oh just talking about the pumpkins in the train and calling it a band box. They downplayed the fact that we have so many double digit home run hitters. Just more ignorant than anything else.

If you haven't seen the AJ Reed inside the parker, do yourself a favor and look it up (I'd post the vine but my twitter feed is acting up on my laptop). The Cespedes fail on that was hilarious. Find a replay that shows the umpire go out to the ball and check it. You will not be disappoint.

Edit: Going to try and post the vine, not sure if it is going to work because I can't see the link from a network glitch here at work.

Love both of these guys. I think White clearly won the 1B job with Reed not far behind him. Its great both guys have produced in spring training, giving the Astros more options. White claiming the 1B spot out the gate is the perfect scenario as it lets Reed get some AAA time in and the 'Stros can better evaluate what to do going forward. Also, gives them some flexibility with Gattis.
