They aren't necessarily top 50 prospects. Gattis & Fiers don't have a lot of trade value. Chris Archer has 5.5 years left under team control. I'd be surprised if he gets moved.
Martes and Tucker both are probable top 50 prospects or in that basic range. Chris Archer has been very mediocre this year, but he does have a good track record and has the raw stuff to be even better. At a minimum his upside is appealing. However, like you said the 5.5 years of team control of a 27 year old pitcher is extremely valuable. You are locked into a pitchers absolute prime seasons. It comes down to what you think is the real Chris Archer.
We do know Kyle Tucker made #32 for Law & #40 for BP while Martes made #33 on BP, but those also didn't include some still prospect-eligible players in MLB and current draftees. So yes, they are 50ish type prospects. Archer still shows good advanced stats, just a bit HR happy.
Buck as long as Bregman isn't part of the package I'd do it. Sometimes you just have to go for it, and as an Astro fan since '68 (48 yrs) I've been waiting a long ass time for them to win it all. Sale would be a huge addition.
Agreed, Archer is a Don Wilson/Danny Darwin/Shane Reynolds type talent. Very good but not somebody I would trade the farm for.
Hated to see Mike Montgomery from the Ms go to the Cubs. I think he's a guy we could have used. Didn't seem to cost much either.
Per Chris Cotillo: Reps from Cubs, Astros among "a ton" of scouts in the Bronx tonight to see the Yankees. Michael Pineda pitched for NYY.

We're still at least a few days (probably closer to a week) away from anybody actually pulling the trigger on a deal like this, so the "NO" isn't too surprising.
Wouldn't surprise me to see us move Kyle tucker and our other top hitting prospects , effectively hedging with little Gurriel
I don't think so. He has a lot of upside, the type to be a #1 starter. So teams like the Astros and Cubs would view him as a buy low candidate, especially if they can get him locked into a long term deal. He is a free agent in 2018. His FIP is 3.8 which isn't great or terrible.... but he leads the AL in strike out per 9 at 11, and until this year he has had a fantastic K/BB ratio. His xFIP is only 3.2 He is 6'7" and 260 lbs and 27 years old. He has multiple fastballs that are in the mid 90's and he has 3 good pitches. He is very possibly a few adjustments tightening up his delivery away from being a horse.
Depends on what you have to give up and how receptive Pineda is to signing a long term contract. He is likely to get a lot better based on his tools.
[rQUOTEr]The Astros are looking for a left-handed reliever, and they've touched base with the Braves about Hunter Cervenka as a possible fallback option, sources said. http://tinyurl.com/zunghhq[/rQUOTEr]
Rangers are apparently considering DeSclafani. If he's available, I'd prefer him to most of the options listed so far
