Yes, you can.....if you trade him. That's what I mean by rebuild. Right now, the Rockets are trying to reload. That's not gonna work cuz there aren't enough impact players available this summer and the ones who are out there don't wanna talk to us much less sign here. Now I'm not saying you trade Harden right this moment. Although I do think his value may never be higher. But I definitely wouldn't wait til the last minute(i.e. the trade deadline in February 2018). If we can't sign any decent free agents this summer and the team has another year like last year, I'd start fielding offers.
Hearing rumblings Morey may get desperate and sign Fournier to a max offer sheet. I don't see it even though I think he's worth it.
I don't know, i guess it's subjective since they're pretty similar but persoanally i'd still take Monroe if i'm forced to chose, Kanter can shoot from outside but overall i think Monroe is a bit better, Kanter is probably the worst defensive big in the league Spoiler look at this

Worst Defensive BPM by players 6'11" or taller (min. 5K minutes) since '73-74 #70million : http://t.co/CEaak4p5UF pic.twitter.com/WfKW2Rg3rn
— Basketball Reference (@bball_ref) 9 luglio 2015
and he's also the front court player with less passes once he gets the ball so...and at least Monroe doesn't have a player option...but again, i guess it's subjective since they're not that different overall... If i remember they have like 90 million in salaries (with KD cap holds but without Waiters holds) so, they need to clear 26/27: Ilyasova + Morrow + Kanter out means pretty much around 28.
Kanter is only 24. He's on a fairly team friendly contract. In his one full season as a starter, he averaged 16 and 9, shot 52% from the floor and 36% from deep. Of course, LAST season he averaged 19 and 11 as a starter once he was traded to OKC. 19 and 11. He shoots 39% from deep for his career. I can't think of a lot of reasons why we SHOULDN'T try and get him cheap.
Yes, but he's also a center and the worst defensive center in the league...if you can pair him with a Garnett or Ibaka pf it's all ok, if not, not. There's a reason why he played 10 minutes per game in the finals.
We keep saying we gonna land big free agents I guarantee you we either overpay for Boban, sign Meyers Leonard Get some 3 and D wing and get an underrated PG and bring back dmo Dont get ur hopes up rockets fans #realisticRocket
I don't think that means the end of the world. I think that what we can take comfort in is that if we do miss out on our top tier targets, Morey will not sign contracts that will handcuff us in next year's free agency. If he misses on Durant, Horford, Whiteside, Conley, etc., I could see him signing smaller contracts in our weaker areas to get to the salary floor and pulling off a trade along the lines of Ariza and Beverly along with a pick for Greg Monroe. Monroe will be a free agent next year and the Rockets will have a chance at the $35m free agents with a better team than they had this year.
I think Kanter will work for the Rockets if Capela's the starting 4. You can't have 2 offensive minded bigs who's deficient on the D in the starting lineup.
if we are depending on guys like Ryan Anderson to be our savior, we better blow this thing up right freaking now and start rebuilding. I absolutely hate this free agency and I absolutely hate every thing they've done this off season. I already know how this movie ends.
if we aren't even talking with Durant, and most likely the other top FA's are off the table, does it really matter? They sold this free agency as the silver bullet cure to sucking as a franchise and there is no way it can deliver on that promise. I've always been skeptical of that claim and when you really dig into free agency, it's crystal clear that the few options available won't be good enough options to put us on any other course but the mediocrity treadmill. Personally i'd rather suck than kinda suck.
I would much rather invest in developing Capela than maxing out Whiteside. Capela has the chance to be much better than Whiteside... Especially when you consider that Capela is 5 years younger than Whiteside.

Seems like a mistake. Most teams that know they are out on the big fish go after the little fish early and that is when some of the major contracts are handed out it seems. He will probably still get paid handsomely anyways but I just remember Iguodala getting a large offer from the Kings in the first couple of days in which they rescinded it and he signed with the Warriors.
