Hoyer attended Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he played both football and baseball for the Wildcats. On the varsity baseball team, Hoyer played multiple positions: pitcher, infielder, and outfielder. In 2002, he compiled an 8–1 record with a 1.99 ERA as a sophomore. He was the winning pitcher in the 2002 Ohio Division I State Championship game allowing 2 earned runs in 6 innings pitched.[3] Hoyer compiled a 16–7 record (.696) as a two-year starter for Coach Chuck Kyle. In 2002, he completed 131 of 263 passes (.498) for 2,130 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In 2003, he completed 258-of-412 passes for 5,570 yards, 45 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while leading his team to an 9–3 record. He was named USA Today Prep Player of the Week for his performance against Shaker Heights High School. Hoyer was an Associated Press Division I all-state selection as a senior. Hoyer participated in the 2004 Ohio All-Star Classic and the July 24 Ohio-Pennsylvania Big 33 All-Star Game.[3] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Hoyer
Ah, guess I should have checked Wikipedia. Well I'm happy for him, he had one year in his life where he was good at playing football. It's been all downhill after his senior year of high school.
It sounds lately like Wentz will essentially be unattainable for us. Sounds like he'll be the first or second QB taken, and could very well go in the top 4. If he has a good senior bowl, he's all but gone, in my opinion. That'll take away one of the very few negatives he has - competition level.
MSU LB Darien Harris defends QB Connor Cook I don't buy any of that, one bit. I feel like, as he is my brother and he is family to me, it's kind of my obligation to try to kill some of that noise," Harris said. "Hopefully I can do that by getting people to understand from the inside of that locker room that we loved him and that he was the best quarterback in the country, no doubt about it. "It's been a mystery to us, and it's really unfortunate. He's a great guy who comes from a great family. It's hurtful to me as well because he's part of our 2011 class that's been able to do so many special things at Michigan State. I know him, I know his parents well, his sister, I know everything about him. We talk all the time. For how close and tight-knit the team was, to me it's been kind of blasphemous, the amount of things that have been said about him." There are perfunctory endorsements, and there are impassioned ones. This was the latter, and Harris didn't stop there. He also defended Cook specifically regarding a TV clip of Cook appearing brusque with Griffin, the two-time Heisman Trophy winner, in accepting the Big Ten Championship Game MVP trophy. "He was caught in the moment. He whole-heartedly apologized. He understood how bad it looked. We didn't understand at first, then we saw the video and understood as well how bad it looked -- it looked pretty bad -- but he called him up personally, he apologized, and he didn't mean anything by it," Harris said. "I've known Connor for the last five years. He's humble. Not arrogant or cocky, he's extremely humble and blessed. "I can't wait for him to get that (combine) opportunity. We know what the first questions are going to be, and he knows that. Once they see him face-to-face, once they hear his side of things, I think they will really change the opinion on him, and understand he is a franchise quarterback." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000626387/article/msu-lb-darien-harris-defends-qb-connor-cook
Paxton Lynch or Goff are A-ok by me as well. It's shaping up to be a three QB class, and you don't wanna get left standing in the musical chairs game. No matter what, I think it would be in the Texans' interests to jump into the mid-teens to grab the QB that falls.
If you want to even have a shot at one of the three, you have to jump St. Louis. That's assuming two of the Browns, Cowboys, Eagles, or 49ers don't take a QB. I could see just the Browns taking one, or three of the four taking one.
Said "nobody LB" is a teammate of a QB who is accused of being a bad teammate. Yes his defense helps. Maybe not much but it helps.
Not saying it couldn't happen, but it's hardly a given that there's going to be a rush on QBs in the first. I keep equating this class to 2014. People initially thought that Bridgewater, Manziel, and Bortles were all going to be top 10-ish picks and that Carr (and maybe even Garoppolo) were going to sneak in at the end of the first round. But despite needing QBs, Cleveland, Minnesota, and Oakland did not use their first picks on QB. Oakland waited until the 2nd round and Minnesota traded up to #32 for the 3rd QB off the board. I believe it is just as likely (if not more) that something similar happens this year. It's certainly not going to be the case that everybody that has some kind of need at QB is going to draft one. PS - What is this St. Louis team you speak of? I wasn't aware they had a football team.
Yeah agree, some of these QBs could drop. None of the QBs this year are in the Luck, Mariota or Winston category. So if you draft one, he probably needs to sit a while or if he plays immediately will not likely be very good. The teams in the draft this year that need a QB with the exception of perhaps Cleveland and Houston probably are not in a dire need of one. Cleveland you can argue if they keep Billy, doesn't really need one. Hence, why spend a first rounder on a qb who is not a superstar and who won't play and who you really don't need all that much and instead just grab someone else who can step in and start from day one?
It's better than an "anonymous source" that bashes him. I'm intrigued by Cook. Right now it looks like he may be available when the Texans pick and the scouting reports all like his ability to read a defense and go through his progressions. I am, however, concerned about that completion percentage.

Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis The general perception is that Lynch is a first-round talent, and while his development since his freshman year is encouraging, he’s not a lock to go in the top 32. The size, arm and athleticism stand out, as does the touch he shows on a number of throws, but he’s often inaccurate when asked to throw the ball with velocity and that’s a concern. His accuracy percentage at the intermediate level (10-19 yards) and outside the numbers is only 49.0 percent — among the worst marks in the nation. On a positive note, Lynch graded well overall (+31.4, 10th in the nation) and he’s continued to improve every year, from high school through his junior season as Memphis. He’s a candidate to rise in the process as we further our evaluations, but at this point, we’re not confident enough to lock him into the first round. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/01/14/why-paxton-lynch-jaylon-smith-missed-out-on-mock-draft-2-0/
